The grounds are beautiful, they stay open later than most (6pm), and the second time we were there we witnessed a gay wedding (yay!).

I just looked at the menu to see if anything comes to mind and yes:
We had the phyllo wrapped french brie: Meh...Ok I guess.
My friend had the Salmon which was kind of bland...I had the pan seared Halibut which was a better choice though again, I can't recall details.
The best part was the location...we crossed the street and there were people making smores along the sand...

As for the Ladies part...we met some very friendly women who told us some restaurants to check out during the stay and a couple of girls afterward but it wasn't much fun...Most of the crowd was older and stand-offish...I am not once for the lesbian scene anyway, but I was disappointed overall in the lack of choices in SF.

The atmosphere reminded me of a traditional old school Italian place which is I guess what it is ...cute...though I wouldn't come here for the vibe. We waited at the bar and had a glass of wine before being seated which didn't seem to take long (we didn't have reservations).
Service was friendly and the food very satisfying and filling...we had no room for dessert. It is a little pricey but for the amount of food you are getting -- seems fair.

First time we ordered a pizza (Margharita) and chatted it up with a very friendly and charming waiter as we waited. Pizza was delicious -- it could have been because we were hungover but I don't think so...we devoured it in the car...
Next time we went -- we were seated outside and I ordered a panini (Vegetariano- good) -- and my friend got a pasta dish -- The Cappellini con Pomodorini which was very good, light, and al dente. We again were served by the same charming waiter and if I weren't such a gay, I might have developed a crush.

I had an eggplant pasta dish which I remember being really good...We didn't get the gnocchi which is what this place is most well-known for, but that didn't seem to matter much. It was one of our favorite dinner spots on our trip-- and I would definitely come again...

The food was OK (The hashbrowns though were gross--way too buttery), the service was extremely slow and horrible (we had to wait 20 minutes for our check and probably wouldn't have gotten it if we didn't practically beg) and I didn't like the vibe inside much.
I also prefer the pancakes at Dottie's...

(Thanks Kristy!)
Very good sushi- The Golden Gate roll was really yummy and the plating was nicely done.
I like the ambiance and the service was friendly.
I didn't find it pretentious like some other reviewers mentioned ...and I dug the music =P
