We went on recommendation from colleagues - our 2nd wedding anniversary and well worth it - so that'll be the 2nd time in two years we've had a meal without our loveable but NOISY infant. This place didn't disappoint. Even the appetiser - carbonara - was excellent. We did the 52/80 menu and it was excellent. Love the window into the kitchen so you can actually see the waiter collecting your order. The owner (looks a bit like the unfortunate chef from the Sopranos) is very nice and greeted every table the night we were in. The food was wonderful and the service fantastic - very informative but not pushy. We'll definitely go again. Who says you have to take a hit on the food quality if you move from San Francisco to Denver - not necessarily!
As I'm a Fifer I can say this - the portions should be bigger - but then again maybe I've been stateside for too long.

About that vibe - think lots of paintings, old photos and hunting memorabilia on the walls. Red/White checked tablecloths. Definitely not business / first date material but family / friend orientated. Oh yeah - it's situated in the projects but that's neither here nor there unless you're walking there I suppose / or you want to avoid a slightly more dangerous side of town for whatever reason.
All in all we were impressed with the food (we had the buffalo tenderloin and the beef tenderloin). The portions were decent (you get one small side and a small soup included in the price of your steak) and the Pinot from Oregon was surprisingly good. The desserts were yum also. We'll be back with friends/ family when the time comes.
2 mains / 2 deserts / 1 bottle of lower priced Oregon wine = $165 all in.

Like other reviews mention, the portions were not large (I ordered the largest fish and chips - the three piece) but it was good. Wife ordered soup for an appetizer and pasta for main and that was more than enough and was also good. So I think the rule is - if you are hungry - order an appetizer and a main!
We took our 11 month year old son here and the staff were very accommodating and welcoming - we weren't sure if we should eat here as it was pretty cozy inside but the staff made it work and had a great attitude about it all.
It's not cheap, but the ambiance and service make it good value for money. The staff did cool little things like bring us bread for the kid for free and regularly fill up your water and they also round your check to the nearest nickel which makes tipping easier. I got the feeling a lot of the customers were regulars which is always a good sign.
Cool decor (New England), welcoming atmosphere, great staff, good food.
Glen Oaks is definitely worth the $. The room we had (a queen #8) was clean, adequately sized and well stocked (mini fridge, enough clean towels, fan, safe etc). There was also a small deck area where you could sit outside. Free coffee at reception was a also a nice touch. The rooms had a thoughtful design, with the bathroom particularly impressive. The staff at the Motel were friendly and helpful. We stayed there three nights. We also brought our 9 month year old son and that worked out fine - some establishments are (understandably) unenthusiastic about letting young children stay. 3 nights - just under $600 - a good deal for the area.
Apart from the good standard of accommodation, the real value of the Glen Oaks in the location - which is fantastic (really close - under 5 miles - to many major attractions (beach hikes, mountain hikes etc) and there are plenty eating / drinking choices in the surrounding area - a couple you can actually walk to - a breakfast place to the right and a tasty dinner place called the Roadhouse opposite the Glen Oaks).
I thought that a few of the fixtures in the bathroom might have been a little higher quality and also the air conditioning system could have been a little better (there was a fan) as it got very warm inside.
I recommend to people like me who can't afford / can't justify paying for the Post Ranch Inn. Book in advance!
