Every surgeon has reasons for why they use certain methodologies over others. If that can't be explained concisely to a patient, then how can the patient be comfortable with anything that the doctor recommends? At the end of the day, I think bedside manners are just as important as skill set when it comes to surgeons. Especially if this is someone you need to see several times and there is a PT/recovery process involved. Do you really want to come back to someone who's difficult to talk with? What if there are complications, would he be able to put your mind at ease?

The service was spotty as our wine arrived not chilled and the food took a long time. However it was well worth the wait. We ordered a classic raw bar sampler (oysters, crab, lobster, etc) and then a sampler of their crudos (which was sashimi prepared with interesting sauces and spices). All of it was so delicious. The Tombo Tuna was my favorite as was the seafood chowder. Delish.

The food while good was not spectacular. Bacon bonbons could have been saltier in my opinion, the bacon was a bit drowned out by the prunes. The Serrano ham pizza and chorizo stuffed squid were tasty. They serve a full menu at the bar and while seats are tough to score, they'll save you the next available seats.

The space hasn't changed too much from the days of Scott Howard except for the addition of really beautiful lattice iron dividers between the main dining area and the upper level. Our champagne was kind of warm as were the oysters. But the vinaigrette on them was amazing. The seared gnocchi in bolognese sauce was good but something creamier would have been better. The best dish was the Alaskan black cod. Sweet and succulent. We sent the braised ribs back because it didn't have much flavor and the mashed potatoes were sour. Our waiter assured us that it was supposed to taste like that. Which may have been true but that's just not my cup of tea.
Overall I'd definitely come back in a few months to eat there again. The bar area seems like a fun place for cocktails after work.

It's cash only, parking is easy but there's almost always a wait. A nice neighborhood spot if you're in the area.

Purchase prepacked boxes for $10, $30 and $55 or build your own box of 20 pieces, which is calculated by weight. The build-your-own usually averages between $30-45. My favorites include Christopher Elbow (rasberry, passion fruit), Michael Cluizel (champignon caramel, framboise), Pralinieur Van Collie (lemon cup), Thomas Haas (lychee) and the dark chocolate turtles.
