I was able to call very last minute and book an appt within 30 minutes. Luckily I was seated with the best nail design specialist there. Perhaps it was my lucky day, whatever it is, it kept me coming back. FYI: Nail Specialist is now working at The Nail Factory.
I only order tacos, so if you decide to order anything else, don't come crying to me. I'm totally Americanized too... all I want in my tacos is asada, cheese, and hot sauce. I'm not a big fan of cilantro. Tacos aren't bad. They aren't the best, but for $1.25... they're friggin awesome! The hot sauce they provide is pretty darn good making the tacos taste even better with some lime. Fortunately, in my experiences here, the meat was never dry or bland... perhaps Monday to Friday lunch hours are the best times to go?
Had a few bites of my coworkers nachos... not too shabby, but then again you can't really screw up nachos.... or can you?
Filipino bakery with all the goodies. However, I only ordered the senorita bread, so it's all I can vouch for. 25 pieces for only $10!! It makes a great breakfast or afternoon snack. LOVE IT! It tastes best when its fresh out the oven.

We had an unfortunate hiccup in our first experience at CA Shabu Shabu that would have set this place back to a 2 star rating. Gnats were attacking our dinner! The staff immediately replaced any dishes that were tainted by the pesky bugs. They even moved us to another area and shut down the front burners that face the entrance. They comped our meal and were very apologetic and assured us this never happens. The staff at CA Shabu Shabu take extreme pride in customer service and satisfaction and they certainly proved that with us tonight. The service alone is worth 5 stars! Nothing better than to eat at a restaurant where the staff can show their customers a bit of sympathy and compassion when things go wrong.
The extremely great service and fresh food will definitely keep me coming back for a second, third, and fourth visits and more!

We went to celebrate my friend's birthday. The crowd was great and despite being the middle of the week, it was poppin'. The DJs play hella old skool (mid to late 90s) mixed with some new skool. It wasn't bad... they had a good crowd groovin' on the dance floor. I love the crowd, everyone just wants to have fun.
Anyway, what ruined the night was a rude bartender. My girls and I tried to order shots of Hennessy, but apparently Sharkeez isn't a "fully stocked bar" because they don't carry that or any other brand of cognac.
What pissed me off was rather than saying, "Sorry we don't carry that, what else can I get you?"... he made a RUDE RACIAL comment and snubbed us. WTF kind of attitude is that!?! We didn't want to ruin the birthday girl's night, so we migrated to the other end of the bar, ordered our non-cognac drinks from a different bartender and made the best of the night.
Knowing that someone like that is employed there absolutely turns me off. It sucks, because I liked that place too.
The Boy and I split the Half & Half (Washu Gyu & Kobe Beef "Rib Eye") and also added an add'tl order or Washu Gyu... so I guess we got something more like 2 to 1. Also had a bowl of rice and udon for 2.
Everything was delicious. i love their dipping sauce... the ponzu looking one... I'm horrible at remembering names (of food and people). It had a tanginess to it... add a lil chili powder... game on!
I'm docking one star b'coz I wasn't happy with the Crème brulée. It just wasn't that good. Tasted like custard pudding. I should have quit while I was happily satisfied with the shabu shabu. Oh well... my eyes and tastebuds won 2 to 1 (my full tummy).
For Shabu for 2 people... our bill came to about $75. Not too shabby shabby.

The food was good. Most of it was either grilled or fried. It was all "finger food" like, small plates with 4 or 5 pieces mostly on sticks. Some of the items we ordered that I enjoyed were asparagus wrapped in bacon, a type of mint wrapped in bacon, salted chicken, chicken meatballs, potato croquettes, and deep fried cheesesticks.

Scrampers

Neighborhood: Torrance
Ambiance 5 stars
The store is huge considering the neighborhood. Everything is so well organized and easy to find. There's a large supply of everything. So much to select from. I've spent hours and plenty $$$ here.
Pricing 5 stars
Scrampers has lower prices than its neighboring competitors. You can always find a special every weekend too.
Service 5 stars
Everyone who works here is very friendly and upbeat. They are all arts and crafts people themselves so their knowledge and creative thinking on products is a plus factor.
Scrampers offers great scrapbooking and card making classes too for a reasonable price. Class fee covers instructions and materials. I've made several mini-albums thanks to their classes. It's an awesome way to bring more creativity into your hobby.
