Ferry Plaza Seafood

Ferry Plaza Seafood is a truly dreadful restaurant, a lifeless, massive, lumbering waste of space in the otherwise brilliant Ferry Plaza building.

On a recent visit, an older gray-haired woman, claiming to be an owner, was rude and dismissive beyond belief, both to my wife as well as the staff. One of her many less than professional comments to us was "don't listen to him, he's only the bus boy".  Read the other reviews. It's not the first time. Yelper "swys" noted she asked him to stop coughing.

I have made an early New Year's resolution. I will spend every single day until 2009 telling at least 10 people what a truly bad place this is. That should be about 400 people. No really, I am going to do this. Shame on her and whomever else is behind this establishment for allowing her to be around.

I originally wrote a nasty review of this place as a few others have, only to be notified by Yelper E.L., that I was mistaken by the name. The place to avoid is Ferry Plaza Seafood, which is the counter restaurant right next to SF Fish Co.

So, sorry about that. Avoid Ferry Plaza Seafood like the plague.

SF Fish Co is a decent fish monger and butcher. I've picked up tuna and swordfish a few times and was well satisfied.

4 of my 5 last visits and always a line to the door; both weekday, weekend and various times of day. Ok, I don't mind a line, but once you order, there's the wait. I've been to this location at least a dozen times since opening and it's 10 minutes or more to get your drink. The last three times, I turned around and left. It's just coffee, not rocket science.

I also have a problem with their food cut-off rule. Try to order some toast at 11:30am and you'll get "I'm sorry, the kitchen is closed." I look around - the toaster and bread are right there... but, no, they can't help out. It's not like I've ordered some elaborate breakfast. Some items, say toast, should be available all day. Come on!

Yes, the coffee is good, but it's not worth the delays and attitude. If you really want the "coffee nazi" experience, check out Ritual Roasters.

311 is awesome! If you've ever had to call for a sidewalk clean-up or other obscure government phone number that you can't find amongst the existing 2300+ numbers, worry no more.

If you are in SF, call for "everything but emergencies."

Operators are friendly and efficient. My only suggestion is to tell callers how long the wait time will be when they call, although I've never had to wait longer than 4 minutes.

I am more than happy that we are joining other leading cities in making government more accessible and accountable. Thank you Gavin!

The owners are charming, yet are in the middle of trying to find their groove. It's a neighborhood bar with a little bit 'o the Yelp buzz that has them sitting a bit unprepared for being a hot spot. Time will work this out and 83 will no doubt prove to be a solid addition to the SOMA/Rincon Hill neighborhood. Plenty of selection, well mixed. I'm hoping for some good bar snacks. Who cares if you copy. Hey Sky, how about Truffled Popcorn, Three-Pepper Spiced Pepitas, or Edamame Tossed with Smoky Salt.... okay, maybe that's been done, how about some hot roasted nuts, fried garbanzos and spiced olives - who can resist?

My business partner introduced me to David when he brought his Brioni suit here for some alterations. After getting back, it looked amazing. I've since bought a few items here and have been continually impressed.

Alterations are only a small part of the business. Amazing men's clothing, mostly from Italy, are beautifully displayed. Prices are also very reasonable.

I recently got a white Zegna suit and had trouble putting together an outfit that worked well with the multi-color pastel lining. David assembled a brilliant outfit that would rival that found next door at Wilkes. Thanks!

If dressing well is important to you, check out this store, you are sure to be pleased.

The best and only gun shop in San Francisco.  If you're one of the minority here and are in favor of gun possession by law-abiding adults, this is your place. If it's your first gun purchase or your twelfth, High Bridge will guide you through the process. Staff are super friendly - support local small business!

Wichcraft

I'm amazed to see the numerous negative reviews in 'wichcraft's first week of business. Take note Yelp reviewers. This isn't Subway or Lee's Deli. If you want a $4 sandwich, go to the Toaster Oven and get what you pay for.

At 'wichcraft you order at a counter, so don't expect table service. Their food has a subtle refinement to it that will grow on most patrons. Gourmet indgredients are plentiful: fennel, roasted tomatoes, marinated cauliflower, white truffle fondue.  It's sandwiches done right, but remember... it's still just a sandwich.

Depressing. DJ's cd player was skipping for 10 minutes, while he was talking on the cell phone - no one else cared to notice. The decor is pleasant and refreshing, but the food isn't. Don't bother unless a new chef and manager take over.
