Before the current bar-epreneur brothers George and Justin Ruotolo (also owners of the East Village watering hole Whiskey Town) took over the space, the bar was most recently known as the "Baxter Pub"-aka, that bar next to the bail bond places that was never ever open on weekends or past 5pm on a weekday, except on totally random days for unexplained reasons.

Beer on tap include Guinness, Smithwick, and Miller Lite. You can find Corona, Bud Lite, Amstel, etc. on bottle and a variety of whiskey (natch). All the better, the bar will be serving up reasonably priced classics like hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, two egg sandwiches (all served with fries), and even a Hostess Cupcake or two, until 12 midnight on weekdays-a godsend for folks in the area who's only late-night options up to this point have consisted of of eating late night dinners at Wo Hop, or trekking over to Good World on the LES.

Thankfully the place doesn't have a trendy vibe, but there is a definite cool flair in the "old is new again" kind of way. Tasteful rock selections played over the sound system while we were there (Queens of the Stone Age, T. Rex, The Ramones, etc.) and when the guys sitting next to us ordered a plate of wings, we couldn't help but notice how delicious they looked.

Welcomed edition to the neighborhood!

This is one of the best thai places I've eaten at in NYC. The recent remodel of the place seems to have affected the kitchen--in a good way. The pad see eiw is great, as is the pad thai--which I don't normally like! The peanut chicken (crispy) is fantastic too... haven't had a bad meal here ever, and we order from there at least once a week. Can't beat the prices and portions.

Went here after reading about it in NY Magazine's Cheap Eats issue. Was excited to try it, but unfortunately the food was far from great. Had the penne caprese, the penne was not "al dente" but completely undercooked. (Sorry, but when it's white and hard on the inside, it's definitely not cooked through.) We ended up spending over 40 dollars there on soup, two pasta dishes, and beverages. We could definitely spend the same amount (or less) on a much better meal in Tribeca. I feel bad about this review because the staff was so nice, but alas, the food speaks for itself.

The price was a little bit more than I was expecting, but the paint job lasted a whole two weeks before chipping. The shaping was good and I really felt like they took the time to do the job right. Color selection could benefit from some more adventurous shades.

Got a regular pedi and the coat was uneven on both big toes... also remnants of the polish were found on the sides. Service was pretty brusque as well and the shaping was uneven. However they have a great selection of polish colors.

I have a love hate relationship with this store. It's the closest place for me to buy yarn, and the prices are decent for cheap, mass-produced brands like Lion Brand, Patons, Red Heart, etc, but I urge shoppers to be alert when they go to pay or return.

One time I was buying a large amount of items, and before I left the counter I noticed a skein of yarn hand gone missing. (At first I wasn't even sure how many I was charged for because the receipt only lists items as "misc", so you can't even tell what is what.) I inquired about it and it was retrieved from behind the counter.

Another time I was returning two unused skeins I'd bought two days earlier and instead of giving me a credit refund when I presented my receipt, I was given cash back. When I looked at what they credited me, one skein was credited for 5 dollars, when in fact it cost 6 dollars. I also was not credited any of the tax I was originally charged, so a 4 dollar skein of yarn ended up costing over 6 dollars. I just went back to look at another return I had made and low and behold, no tax back from that one either. I went back later that day and got back the money I wasn't originally refunded.

I was extremely disappointed by this oversight. I will only buy yarn from here when I know I will not be returning and will be keeping tabs to make sure all my items end up in my bag.

When my budget (and schedule) allows, I'll be headed to another downtown store, Seaport Yarns.

This place has a an amazing selection of bags. Don't expect to come here and have tons and tons of bags to browse through--it seems as though the owners hand-pick each and every piece to their liking, so it's more like looking through the (large) closet of a uber-fashionable New Yorker. I was surprised by how friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful the staff was--the woman who was there when I went kindly conversed with me and explained how the bag I was looking at could be used. (It was an enormously oversized bag.) The prices are stiff, you can probably get some better deals online for some of the labels they carry, but I would definitely go back for inspiration and to check out the hottest makes and models.

Glad to see a new restaurant in this neighborhood. This is by far the most upscale, specialized dining experience in that area. The menu is heavily vegetarian, although there are some meat options (burger, cod, chicken). The wine and food all come from local purveyors. Surprisingly PACKED for a place that has just opened, and given the kind of off the beaten track location, impressive. All around good dining, beautiful decor with a living wall in the back. Spied some famous folks while we ate there and our server was friendly and patient. It was only toward the end of our meal like they seemed that they wanted us out of there (we'd been there for a while working our way through wine, apps, main course, and dessert). The business cards include a packet of seeds to plant.

Great crispy delicious chicken. Stopped in for lunch one day and got the chicken teriyaki. I knew their wings were crispy, but I had no idea the teriyaki would be the same! The chicken was wonderful tasting and the lunch menu price of $6.95 cannot be beat. I will definitely be back for more delicious eats.

Maxwelll's is the only reason I ever find myself in New Jersey. It's a great alternative to the stuffy NYC concert environment. I always get there early so I can eat dinner there. The mac 'n' cheese is FANTASATIC and you can always spy the headliners eating dinner at a table an hour or so before the show.
