HoneyHole

A bit too chaotic at night, but just right for lunch.  Live the veggie options, and the breads are just right for sandwiches: not too flavorful or sweet, but not boring, and soft while still solid.

I prefer Baguette Box, but HoneyHole offers better repeat value with many more veg options.

This is the archetype of "bar", for better or worse.

Nihon Whisky Lounge

A grain of salt: I don't like whisky.  Nihon has "Whisky" in their name.  I'm probably not the best suited to review the place.

But, still: Spotty service (decent on first visit, lousy the second, both with a table of 6), good but not amazing sushi, and the whisky focus is at the detriment of staples like saki (small selection) and plum wines (none!).

Distance from this market will be a major criteria in selecting our next home.

I might love this place if I was a carnivore, but there's hardly a thing for me to eat as a pescetarian.  Still, good cheese, desserts, and service.

Wonderful, wonderful food.  But the place is a bit sterile and very loud.  Some canvas hanging from the ceiling might fit the decor and would do wonders for being able to hear yourself think.

Old School Frozen Custard

I didn't realize I missed frozen custard until it came to the 'hood.

The custard is excellent, the toppings and house sundaes are good.  I'd not be able to resist 5 stars, except Old School is a victim of its success, and I just can't recommend fighting your way through the crowds at times... particularly since the crowd feels less, uhm, local than that at Molly Moon's.

Mobatta Crepes To Go

Some are big, some are small, and it's not always easy to know which is which.  In general, the sweet ones are small and the savories are nice and stuffed.

The big ones are pretty good and a great deal.  The small ones are disappointing and overpowered by the crepe itself.

Entre Nous

This is what Le Pichet wishes it could be.

Sure, the decor is amusingly low-budget, but the menu is diverse and the service excellent.  The ingredients are both high-quality and carefully paired; each cheese is perfectly cast for its role.  Salads are finely and freshly chopped.  Even the fondue leaves the impression it was prepared with concern, and not as part of an overpriced tableside show as too often found.

This is becoming a favorite for avoiding the crowds for a romantic dinner.
