Edo Sushi

This is a fantastic little place with great location (between the National Aquarium and Camden Yards and across from a really nice urban mall). It's 10 yards from the water, has nice outdoor (2nd floor patio) seating. My fiance and I go here when we have time for a nice lunch together.

They have lunch specials between 1-3pm that give you a very nice selection for maybe $30 for 2 people in a nice lunch.  The service is good, and their location is probably the best of any inner harbor restaurant.

A good treat is the fried ice cream--I never eat fried food or ice cream but they make it in a special japanese way and they top it off with a sauce I can't describe. It's a better dessert than I've had anywhere in Baltimore and that includes the high-end Italian places like Della Notte, etc.

Sullivan's Steakhouse

It's a little overpriced for what it is but it's right on Mall Boulevard near Neiman Marcus and Nordstroms so obviously there is a huge influx of people who can afford it (Ruth's Chris is right around the corner as well). Personally I'm not into steak but they have very nice appetizers (I had some stuffed mushrooms) and they have a great wine selection. The pasta dish was rather nondescript and I wouldn't recommend this place to other non-steak eaters.

Typical steakhouse chain. Not the best of the genre, but not the worst. 3 stars.

Ikaros Restaurant

If you want authentic Greek, this is the best place in Baltimore. They could work on the ambiance a little (you could argue it is too traditional) but you can't argue with the food. I agree with the other reviewer's comments about the meze (meze is Greek for 'small plates'). I'd recommend the sakanaki and vegetarian moussaka.

I totally disagree with the other reviewer who claimed that Samos is better. Samos is Greek fast food--very good if you want souvlaki but not good if what you want is a good sit down dinner.

Ikaros has the best staff, who treat you like family (mostly because they have all been there a long time) and it's also great for groups/parties.

Sushi X

If you blink, you would drive past this place. Located in a very obscure place is the blue glowing sign of Sushi X. Parking is everywhere because..well there just isn't anything else nearby. We parked right in front at meters. Its a small restaurant with a huge project screen of anime, and the lighting is very dim with an atmosphere of a trendy lounge.

Two of us ordered 3 maki rolls which was more than enough. Each roll is about 10 or more pieces with each piece being the size of my palm. Ok its not that big, but its big enough that you are embarrassed to put the entire thing in your mouth at once. Good creative rolls, around $12-$15 each. You aren't here for the sashimi, you are here to stuff yourself with good maki rolls till you puke.

Come around 6:30-7pm, it started getting busy around 8.

After a few trips to Chicago, this is still one of my favorite sushi spots in Chicago....and there are a lot of sushi places!

I like the simple modern atmosphere and smallish size.

Eeeeeeeeeeeew.

Cheesy and cheap looking clientele.

Beyond rude door staff.

Horribly pretentious attitude.

And....... the place was half empty!!

They keep you waiting like cattle outside to perpetuate the look of exclusivity when they could easily have you inside and be making $$$ off of you. It would all be worthwhile if it didn't feel like someone's bad high school basement party - Zima anyone??? *If* you get inside, you look around and actually feel sorry for the people who hang out there.

I spent 5.7 minutes there last night and that was 5.7 minutes too many.

Tip Top Meats & European Delicatessen

If you like HEARTY homestyle cooked food, Tip Top is the place to go!  The portions are HUGE (They even have an "all you can eat meat - Big John's Breakfast").  You really can't go wrong here... everything is DELICIOUS and AFFORDABLE!  You MUST try the German Potato Salad!

The meat market has top quality meats (and even hard to find selections like rabbit) prepared by real butchers.  Their sausages and other homemade meats are authentic and affordable.

They also have a nice selection of cheeses, and a HUGE selection of "hard to find" european brand foods that are wonderful.  Browsing each aisle you'll find something new each time you go.  I particularly like their dill pickle selections (the "frische gerken" ... not sure the spelling... are THE BEST.  They serve them in the restaurant so if you can't find them, ask at the counter and they'll tell you which brand).
