Classy joint. Came here for a showing of Wattstax at my friend Sayre P.'s invitation. The seating arrangements left a little to be desired, but they had some good beers and the vibe is good. Bartenders were chill, etc.

Took delivery of some That Takes The... Cupcakes this morning, a special birthday gift ordered from afar by my dear sister in Houston. I'm not one for sweets and I don't care much for frosting, but let me make one thing completely clear:
These are some good motherfuckin cupcakes.
I just housed a red velvet delight and I plan to enjoy a few more as the day progresses. I'm employee of the month today. All the women want to do me, all the men want to be me, even the dog just wants to sit at my feet and look at me adoringly. The planets are aligned, my chakras are pumping hard, the sky is cloudy but there's a hole up there and sunlight is streaming down upon me. All is well with the world. Thanks, sis, and thanks, TTTT.

Great camera shop in a neighborhood I've apparently never been to - cute little shopping thoroughfare you got there, Marina. I came in for a new Nikon lens that is virtually impossible to find - the brick and mortar shops I called were either out or hadn't heard of it, and all the internet retailers are backordered. But Fireside had it in stock, for about 10% more than the Internet - but once you factor in shipping, the difference is really only about $10. Plus I got it right now, plus I got it at all - remember, everyone else is out of stock.
They pulled the lens out of the box and let me try it out on my exact camera model, advised me on a flash purchase, and were generally helpful and nice. Nice neighborhood shop, friendly staff, good selection of stuff (they had a ton of camera bags, which is something else on my list). Highly recommended.

Noah's Bagels

I don't care much for the bagels at Noah's, and they sure as hell aren't New York style (this chain is called Einstein Bagels on the East Coast cuz you can't get away with that shit over there), but I'll be damned if this wasn't the friendliest, most have-a-nice-day-ist group of employees I've encountered in a long time. I mean seriously, I was given positive reinforcement and asked if I had everything i needed like 5 or 6 times during my 5 minute purchasing experience. Noah's - your bagels are hella edible and your staff is nice as all hell.

BANGIN' cheesesteaks overflowing with all the goodies. I'm a die-hard avo addict so I ordered the California, which is just a classic whizzed-up cheesesteak with a bunch of avocado slices on it. I'm also a occasional optimist and my eyes get too big for my innards, so I ordered the full-size 12". Turns out I cannot eat 12" of overstuffed cheesesteak (that's what she said?), but I did a pretty decent job and I'm proud of my accomplishments.
I had my sandwich with the cheese whiz, but I did get to sample their cheese-beer sauce on some onion rings and let me tell you...I will definitely be trying it on my 'steak next time. That stuff is off the hook. Get off the computer and go get hooked up with a crazy awesome sammich.

A super chill neighborhood spot with cheap drinks, a beautiful bartendress and good friends. The columnar patio heaters outside open the whole area to lounging at any time, so you can move freely inside and out.
They carry some single malts (had my way with a Laphroiag 12), though their draft selection is a little aenemic. actually that's probably my only complaint: alcohol selection's a tiny bit thin. But this is an awesome bar otherwise.

This place can be pretty fun on the right night. I've been here twice, and somehow been spared the cover charge both times. The drinks are tasty and expensive, and somewhat obnoxiously poured with a electronic device that meters out a perfect pour (in the measurement sense) by salty bartender. But like many before me have mentioned, the view is tits, the atmosphere is fun in a role-playing sort of way and it's pretty nice to meander out onto Nob Hill after they kick you out at 1:00am.

Very good sushi at this small, sustainability-minded spot in Pac Heights. We arrived a little late to a decent-size line but - voilà - there's a wine bar next door and my companions and I whiled away the minutes sipping on the lovely house red.
Back at Tataki, we were seated and attended to by a rather interesting fellow who had both of our female friends more or less ogling, which is neither here nor there; to be honest Nema S. and I thought we was pretty cool, too.
The sushi was really quite good. We ordered a selection of rolls and nigiri and nothing really disappointed; one of the cool things about the sustainability kick is that they had some varieties of fish I hadn't even heard of before, and they were all tasty. Of particular note - pay attention here - the uni was, I'm pretty sure, the best I've had. Perfectly balanced flavor, perfect texture...I dunno, I don't think I've had it that good before.
