This gas station advertises 50-or-so different flavors of real soda pop in real glass bottles. I went in there thinking, "There's no way they're gonna have any ramune..." And the other person I was with went in there thinking, "There's no way they're gonna have Dr. Brown's soda."
But guess what! They had both! Dr. Brown's black cherry soda (sadly no Cel-Ray), and FOUR flavors of ramune! Orange, original, strawberry, and melon (my favorite!).
I'm always on the search for any cool Japanese stuff and it was a great find yesterday. The Asia Grocery Market in Medford sells ramune also, but I've never seen orange or melon there. Cool! So come grab a taste of Japan at your local Shell station! ... Still, this place is lacking in the "they don't have any Calpico" department, so that's why they only get three stars.

Across a whole ocean from home is this place that reminds me so much of home! It may be a tiny shop, but it has plenty of health food to last a vacation in Honolulu. And they also had those little cartons of Horizon chocolate milk. One day I needed a choco milk and it really cheered me up. So nice!
There we were, walking through the Chinatown market---- and I wasn't hungry at all. Go figure. Thankfully I had just enough room to have a bubble drink and a couple custard tarts. SO yummy!!! The custard tarts were the best!! A couple girls sitting across from us were proof of the deliciousness 'cause they had just bought a whole box full of them.
When I come back to Honolulu someday I'm going to spend a lot more time in Chinatown and come back to this place for sure!

Anytime I travel I always want to go to the San Francisco airport. Even if it's only because I want to eat dim sum first thing in the morning! I know it's not as good as running into Chinatown for a snack, but who has time for that when you're traveling?

Wow!! This place is so cool. I'd always wanted to go to some huge marketplace and there it was! We went in there just 'cause I wanted a little snack after my dad's doctor appointment around the corner, but we ended up walking around the whole thing even before I could begin to figure out what I wanted to eat. And it's so HUGE!!! And all the soul food. It looked so yummy! But for some reason I got some Korean food and it was super!
Yeah, keep your wits about you for sure and don't act like a tourist (umm.. we weren't the only tourists there, were we?), but it's a total foodie's paradise. That being said, though, this isn't the kind of place I'd bring my mom to!

It was the last day before we left the Washington DC area and I really really wanted to go to some sort of Asian market. You know, pick up some snacks for the plane ride. And this place was perfect. I wanted to try one of everything! But I only had room for a few things so I got some fruit moon cakes, chestnuts, and a piece of mochi. Delicious! A great ending for our trip.

The Farmer's Market is a great little family-owned place. Perfect for finding some great fresh fruit and vegetable deals! Inside there's also lots more natural foods and snacks and things. Sometimes I forget about this place, but it's so refreshing to go to after trudging through busy supermarkets all the time. It's just so cool, I'm not sure how to explain it. I feel happy when I shop here!

Love this place so much that sometimes we drive to the coast just to eat here! I always always get fish and chips. Sometimes halibut, sometimes cod, and once I got salmon, but it's all good. Really good! It's just so wonderful on a sunny day sitting outside on the picnic tables with the breeze in your face and a big mouthful of perfect fried fish. And watching all the seagulls wish they had some! Fish, bird watching, sitting in the sun--- it's a cat-girl's dream.
This place wins my award for best Chinese food menu in the area. Roast duck, fish fillets, sizzling platters... and it's no wonder because my take-out menu says the chef is from San Francisco. I have no doubt that he can cook good, but something's just missing from this place. Maybe because there's usually just one other person eating here at the same time we are, or that most everybody in Medford eats mar far chicken?
So. Last time we ate here, we got sizzling rice soup that sizzled only for a split second, and mapo tofu (yeah, it was pretty good actually). I guess I shouldn't nit-pick so much since we ate in a Chinese restaurant once in San Francisco that the sizzling rice soup didn't sizzle at all. But at least in that place, there were lots of people eating there and you knew the food was going to be fresh. Nevertheless, I would give Sin Hong's a try and please prove me wrong so I can go back and try the duck!

The point is, this place isn't just a good deal, everything I've tried tastes good too. What's even better is that everything's homemade. Don't just drive by on your way to and from wherever you're going and wonder "what's up with that place", turn around and get some dinner! It's fun to try new restaurants, won't you try too?
