i'm pretty sure that if a sequel to no exit (Huis Clos Deux?) was ever written, sartre would send his cast of characters here to eat.

Mehfil Indian Cuisine
Category: Indian
Neighborhood: SOMA
AARGH - walked up here today for some yummy and cheap indian food and found out that they're temporarily closed, due to a fire! :-( Their website sez: "ATTENTION: Mehfil Indian Cuisine experienced an electrical fire on 02/27/07. We will be closed for the next few days while we undergo repairs."
The first time I went to Mehfil, I asked if I could use a credit card to pay for lunch, and found out that they take cash only. But the guy working the register told me I could have it for free, and just pay the next time I came. My coworker spotted me the $$$, but I gotta say they've definitely got that karma thing down!
Big plus for changing up their menu daily, really quick service (when taking out, anyway), and letting me hook up the combos! Their naan is better than most I've had, too. I work way down in SOMA, and lunch options are lacking (compared to the financial district), so this place has been a lifesaver.

this place sucks. i once saw one of the dirty hippies drop the pizza slicer on the floor, pick it up, THEN START CUTTING PIZZA WITH IT. needless to say, i didn't order anything that night and have never gone back. how the dph continues to let this place stay open i'll never know...

i dunno, i had the falafel deluxe last night and was not blown away. the "potatoes" looked more like french fries to me (who puts french fries in a falafel???). and although the top half was piping hot, it got progressively colder the further down i went. oasis grill in the financial district (extra hot sauce, please!) is still tops in my book.
