"Have you eaten here before?"
"No."
"This will sound weird but we are known for our soups and salads."
I can't add much that hasn't already been said. Great spot, nice people, long lines... the cellphone wandering down Clement trick helps ease the wait somewhat. Be sure to try all the rices if going that route. Least favourite but still entirely edible would be the Burmese Curry (I have tried both chicken and beef). It's rather dry and of a complexity that ends up burdening the flavour.
A great peek into lesser known SE Asian cuisines and a super spot to take the small town rellies who are looking for something completely different.

Now normally my gastro-guard comes down a few notches when I'm healthily libated and amongst good friends and conversation. This time, unfortunately, I was fixated. So much so that after we completed our appetizers and a glass of wine, I was not too interested in moving on to a main course.
The frito misto was bitter and dry; the roasted goat cheese was good but the ratio of chevre to bread vehicle was so unbalanced that you needed to a spoon to finish; the portabello mushrooms looked like two rubbery fried 'thousand year old' eggs staring back at us.
I'm sure we caught them at a prime time being located in a district of industry as they are but I was rather suprised at the state of the bathroom as well.
Anyway, I am looking forward to trying Azie and who knows, if the opportunity arises, I may give Lulu's another shot as well. Neat interior and a good solid wine list but I found the small plates to be a bit lacking.

Merritt Restaurant & Bakery

As reviewers before me - I too get the raised eyebrow, quizzical look from many fellow gastronomes but I swear my perception of food was dramatically altered when I was introduced to the Chicken and Waffle phenom.
The bakery if nothing else serves as a wonderful backdrop as you enter the restaurant. Rotating glass displays of creative cakes with plastic motorcycles, strategically placed Disney characters or cupie dolls. Turn to your right and there's the takeout sign which, if I am not mistaken, prices chicken all the way up to 200 pieces.
The restaurant is bright (or at least exceedingly so when you are libated and it's 1am) but superbly decorated and the staff is very friendly. Don't ask me what's on the menu though... I have no idea.
I think I may have seen someone eating a club sandwich once.

I find myself subconsciously calculating these "errands" on 16th street that all happen to fall around lunch time or when my stomach speaks at 3pm. Yeah, I need um... stamps... oh look! there's Arinells. Well jeez, I mean it's RIGHT THERE and a single slice won't kill me!
btw - I have never seen so many references to 'pasty white guys' in a single listing on yelp in my limited tenure here... I guess I should continue the trend.
pasty white guy.
that is all.

Nice wine selection, friendly staff and a decent row of scotches at the bar made for an enjoyable experience... I think this is located in what used to be Busara - my favourite thai joint in Denver. Don't quote me on that though - it's been a while.

Mitchell's Ice Cream
Category: Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt
Neighborhood: Noe Valley
Veterans have discovered the "express" line and quickly snag that half gallon of Mango from the freezer - darting out of there way before the rest of us coneheads get served. Having a half gallon of Mitchell's ice cream in my freezer would be about as dangerous as a garbage bag full of cashews in my pantry.
If you get the chance (and I'm certain it's already been mentioned) make sure to at least test out eveything they have that is seasonal. The Pumpkin ice cream of autumn certainly has the most glowing reputation.
