My local taco truck makes me happier then any other restaurant in NYC right now. It even makes me happier then any of the taco trucks near our old apartment at 22nd and S. Van Ness in the Mission, SF.

I can't imagine what it would have been like if one had had to wait in the seemingly endless line.
J however glided up to the front of the line and secured us an original with extra basil to go. 15 minutes later we were setting on the dock watching the "waterfall" and eating good hot pizza. This is the way to do Grimaldi's
Sauce is a bit too tame, crust could have a bit more crunch, good pizza, but I wouldn't wait for it.

The reviews said it all, the desire to like it, the hope against hope of a good vegetarian dumping near the office, the inevitable disappointment of bland, mushy dumplings.

Bread Bar's selling point is its only in Summer, outdoor seating, parkside view, beautiful vaulted ceiling, and surprisingly reasonable prices. (at least if you're ordering vegetarian).
J ordered from memory off of Tabla's menu and with some eye batting got them to serve her alfresco, I stuck to the more tame ordering off the menu that was put in front of me.
Simpler dishes were better prepared.

Been dropping in for 3 years, and watched it transform from a coffee shop to a defacto laptop cafe. Accept it for what it is, and appreciate its perks: lots of power, fast internet, an enabling culture, decent sound track, very acceptable coffee.
As a work space my only critique is the dark tables tend to be too high for really comfortable typing for hours and hours.
And now that I'm living on this coast, it doesn't hurt that its just around the corner.

Way too expensive to capture the historic/kitsch/faded glory vote. Just run down, and unfriendly.
Fabulous, affordable, and friendly food in an otherwise largely unredeemable culinary landscape.
Fresh home made tortillas, and spicy salsa (in green or red or christmas) compliment the breakfast enchiladas perfectly.

But the rice pudding empadas earn them some slack; unique, tasty, spiced, and warm, perfect for Winter. And their guac isn't the worst in the neighborhood.
