There was a private party in the back and upstairs area, so we were restricted to the bar and dining room. We started out the night in the bar while we waited almost 45 minutes for our table (this wasn't too bad since we had drinks, and a birthday to celebrate... Complimentary blowjob for the birthday girl!!!).
We had a bunch of appetizers. Don't ask me to name them, because I really don't remember much besides the crab cakes, which were quite tastey, and the oysters, which were mediocre and a little bit on the TINY side. I had the Chicken Penne, which, to my surprise, wasn't dry. My best friend had the risotto which was cheesy and very yummy.
Again, I think this was the alcohol and hunger speaking to me. But regardless, the food was delicious, the drinks were strong but never tasted like fuel. Overall, I would LOVE coming here again -- the atmosphere and decor makes it great for parties and getting together in large groups.
P.S. The sundae they give to birthday girls is GREAT. See some of the pictures above for ideas. The banana is totally genius. Haha!
It's cramped, dirty, and sometimes loud, but it's delicious, authentic, FAST (like a Nascar... sorry, I couldn't resist), and cheap. The "small" is freakin' HUGE. More food for my dollar!!! I usually get Pho with tendon, flank, and beef balls. I love that they give you a TON of basil and bean sprouts -- basil is like crack to me, and most places I go to usually don't give me enough to stick in my pho. But Kim Long always appeases my basil + pho addiction.
... I also like saying the name of this place out loud. ^_^

Last night's Holiday Party was FANTASTIC. The Exploratorium is a great place to have a gi-huge-o party, it never felt too crowded, but it also didn't feel too big. I wish I could tell you more about the food and exhibits...but I was too busy being a social drunkass. The only thing i can tell you is that all 2895798 bars in the place were well-stocked, the bartenders were all great, and the drinks were good. All four Jack and Cokes I drank were great. Haha, just kidding. I think I had other drinks besides that... *ponders*
Yelp, you have outdone yourselves. Thank you for kicking off my holiday season with a BANG... No, not that kind of bang. You pervs.
It's really your typical, old-fashioned, family-run, Cantonese Chinese-style restaurant. DO NOT go there expecting something from like Dave Wong's or some fancy-schmancy no-grease/oil/fat Chinese place like the ones in the Bay. It's all family-style -- a lil oily, simple, maybe a lil cheap, but plain good! You can get anything from chow fun to steamed fish to clay pot, and if you're lucky, you can get the stuff that's not on the menu too!
Overall: go there for quick, cheap, easy Chinese food with your family. If you come in expecting at least that, you will leave full and happy.

Pinky Nail Spa
Categories: Nail Salons, Hair Salons
After going there again, I've learned how to do it:
The key is to get your manicure and pedicure done separately. this will prevent crooked filing. if you get them done at the same time, you'll for sure get some crooked nails.
Thanks for the tip, Jessica C.!

Pinky Nail is a few blocks away from work, so it's convenient and sorta on the way home from Fremont. I went there on Yelp's recommendation as well as a co-workers, and have to say they lived up to my expectation!
While Pinky isn't really THAT clean, the techs there do an exceptional job. Plus, it's super quick and cheap and they have a great selection of colors, so I cant really complain a lot. Cathy did my pedicure, and she's really attentive and did a good job. I don't recall who did my manicure (oops!) but it's a-okay. Everyone does a good job with cuticle removal... I was scared to death that they would nick my cuticle since they were doing it so crazy hard, but I came out unscathed! =)
The only gripe I have is that while they filed my nails square, one is a little crooked... it's not straight across. it kinda slants down. Boo! =( A little bit more attention can probably be paid to nail shaping...
Pinky isn't the greatest place I've gone too, but I have to admit I'll probably be going there again, but only if I absolutely need to get my nails done on a weekday. Otherwise I'll wait until the weekend to go to a place closer to home, and that's slightly better.
Yesterday I brought my friend here to get a tattoo of a cityscape on her forearm. We were referred to Bobby by both the staff and friends. What we initially estimated at about an hour turned into two and a half hours, but damn. It was totally worth it. My friend brought in a picture and outline drawing of what she wanted, and Bobby totally read our minds when it came to improving it and offered a lot of help in finalizing the design.
The result: One of the sickest cityscapes I've ever seen. Bobby is an awesome artist, and took a simple outline drawing and turned into a hella dope tattoo complete with shading and fades. I was totallllllly blown away with the end result! (I'll post a photo of her tat later!)
Bobby is great with talking his clients through the process, and really just easy to work with and relate to. He's super detailed oriented, and has done the tattoos of several of my friends, and they've all had nothing but praise for him!!!
I also got a tattoo done by him yesterday, a small fleur de lis behind my ear. It was super quick, like 10 or 15 minutes, and turned out great! Perfect fills and shading... I'm really stoked about it.
Oh yeah, I also got my ear re-pierced by Jeremiah... I've been running around with only one pierced ear for the last 5 years, I figured it was time to even it out. He's super chill too, and just doing earlobes is no problem anyways, but even so, Jeremiah was still just as professional and helpful as if it'd be a more elaborate job.
I really love the staff here -- they are all super helpful and knowledgeable. They pride themselves in being professional, sterile, and just really awesome artists, and I'd definitely recommend them to anyone looking to get a tat done on the Central Coast!

The Breakfast Buzz
Category: Breakfast & Brunch
Their Buzz Burrito is the perfect cure for a hangover, all-nighter -- you name it! Avocado, sour cream, eggs, sausage, cheese... Oh my goodness, it's like a blissful artery-clogging-death-bringer in the morning. After eating it, you know you will pay later, but it's just so delicious... I can't stop! Five stars for burritos!!!
I've spent many mornings after a loooong night of partying here, shoveling down burritos, french toast, waffles, fruit bowls, and pancakes into my mouth (not all in one sitting, mind you). Now, the burritos are a five for sure, and the rest of the breakfast food is pretty good too, but only average, like a 3.5. Nothing is made horribly here, but there's nothing that's extraordinary. For this reason, B. Buzz gets a solid 4.
By the way, Tuesday used to "Buy one get one free" for Buzz Burritos, but this year they've discontinued that and are doing "buy one get one 1/2 off." Bummer! It makes sense though, because Tuesdays would be jam packed and it'd be nearly impossible to get food in a timely fashion. I STRONGLY suggest calling in your orders in the morning if you wish to take them to-go, they rarely ever take longer than 15 minutes to get food ready for you, except Tuesdays. Then expect a 25 minute wait.
Oh, Breakfast Buzz... I miss you. You make me happy to come back to SLO.

YUM whisky and bourbon! The first one, Basil Hayden, made my lips pucker -- unfortunately Dave, our whisky master, caught the horrible face I made... and I was singled out for the rest of the lesson. -_-
Of the four we tasted, I have to say Knob Creek was my favorite -- it definitely had a kick and burn that wasn't too overpowering, nor did it make me want to keel over into the fetal position... After those I'd say I liked the Booker's and then Baker's, and lastly.. the Basil Hayden. I will forever be remembered as the whisky face girl. I tried to light whisky on fire, our table was loud, most of us had the Asian glow... It was fantastic.
I would write about the food, but it was really all a blur. Not eating dinner before hand was a mistake, and I just tried to scarf down whatever food I could find. It was all very yummy though, I remember!!!
Thanks to the Connie C and the rest of the Yelp Crew for throwing such a fab event! I had a blast, and it was great seeing everyone (I'd name everyone but that's really.. excessive...)! Carol L and Henry L, among other volunteers, did an awesome job shooting photos all night -- and thanks Henry for inviting me! I hope to go to more of these in the future. GREAT JOB!
My best friend has gotten several tattoos done here, and brings all of our friends for theirs. Everyone has been super happy with their tattoos, and we all keep coming back for more. =D
All in all, I love the people and service here and will definitely come back again, for a new tat, and to add more to my current one...

It was so worth it.
Went last night with Vince K. and another friend of ours. They have a reputation for eating like heffers, so I half-expected them to take home seconds!!! They couldn't do it this time, but, there's always next time.
The salad was awesome and served in HEAPING portions. I don't think I've ever eaten beets before -- I tend to avoid them -- but this time, I just went with it, and it was delicious. Best dinner salad I've had in a long, long time, and I ate nearly the whole plate! I ordered the City Cut, which was cooked to perfection -- tender and flavorful, and served with Yorkshire pudding (a new favorite... I totally fell i love with it. I love squishy breads), a baked potato (or mashed, if you choose), and cream spinach. Everything was PERFECT.
A waiter was passing out jalapeno cornbread, so we got in on some of that action too. It was quite good, soft on the inside and a little bit crispy on the outside, and just enough jalapeno to not overpower anything.
There was so much food. I don't think I've ever devoured that much food so quickly... EVER. But it was SO GOOD. I'm definitely coming back again and again and again...
