I used to do it on Sundays b/c it just felt right but recently I have become more spontaneous. I like to wash clothes on Wednesdays or sometimes on Saturdays. What day do you do your laundry?

Jason "Can You Fly, Bobby?" C. says:
Sundays. Sunday evenings aren't the same without laundry and Sunday Night Football. Whoooop!
But yeah, Sundays. Unless I go shopping for clothes, in which case I wash 'em as soon as I get 'em home.

Kainanny - Ditto. I hate doing Laundry and I hate folding clothes, so only when it is necessary. Ugh, like today.

Because ironing dress shirts is such a painful experience and because half my clothes need to be dry-cleaned, I use a dry-cleaning/laundry service. On top of that, I don't like carrying that huge bag up the hill to the cleaners and couldn't get there before they closed to pick up the clean laundry. So now I have Bergmann's pick up my stuff at my home and deliver to my door. I think this is some kind of great negative carbon impact on the environment but I offset it by donating money to a web site that plants trees. And I still wash my underwear, socks t-shirts etc at home, usually on the weekend. If I could get away with it at work, I'd wear all organic cotton clothes and never iron the stuff but alas my job requires an ironed appearance of business attire.

I do it the day I run out of clean clothes.

Sundays or days when the weather is so gross outside, I have to stay in.

Justin S. says:
Usually about 3-4 days after I run out of cloths, whatever day that happens to be.

In DC I have a washer and dryer in the basement so I do laundry sort of constantly-- I don't hate doing it, but I hate it when it builds up, so the minute I have a full load it goes in.
In California, where the wash is outside and requires quarters? Only on a Sunday. Somehow I have a mental block for going outside for laundry after work.

This thread (and the 4+ loads of laundry I did today) reminds me of how much I miss wash and fold. You take in a sack of dirty laundry and for a small price pick up your clothes all folded and neatly wrapped.
Laundry is SUCH a time suck!

I'm with Jason on this one. Sunday nights. Folding and ironing laundry doesn't seem to bad when you're watching football.
I recently visited some friends in NYC. We were preparing to go out for the night, so I asked them if I could use their iron since my shirt was compactly folded in my suitcase and therefore really wrinkled. They looked at me quizzically, as if they had never heard of an iron. Then it dawned on me that they get all their clothes washed/folded/dry cleaned/ironed because you can do that cheaply in NYC (and if it weren't cheap they would still do it b/c their damned investment bankers and make 3-5 times what I do). Therefore, they don't even own an iron. Crazy New Yorkers...

Yesterday (Sundays) for all the reasons above, except that never ACTUALLY happens.

Saturdays or Sundays when the NASCAR Nextel race is on.

Apparently my brain isn't working because I confused both "to/too" and "they're/their". Oh well. Close enough for government work.

I don't mind laundry so much. When I married my husband, we came to an agreement that I would do all the laundry, and he would do all the cooking. Really, I'm pretty sure I came out ahead on that one!
But we do share. I help in the kitchen by grating cheese and other menial tasks, and he helps with the laundry by mating up socks.

I try to do laundry when I get home from work - or whenever the machines are free...my apartment building has one laundry room per floor which is really nice - it just kinda sucks if they're all used.
When I was abroad in China - we'd just drop off our laundry in bags...and then pick it up a day or two later - all ironed and folded and it was amazing. Cheap, too. Man, I miss that.

Since every day has been a work day for me lately, I've noticed that I tend to sneak in a necessary load or two on Friday nights. How pathetic is that?
Although right now I have 5 or 6 loads that need to be done...

Chloe "heels on wheels" F. says:
I actually did a load this morning. Woke up, threw some in, and by the time I was ready to leave for work, I was able to put them in the dryer. This could become my new routine. Of course, actually folding the clothes is a completely different story.

Mary Kay "In All Seriosity!" S. says:
Hmmm, thanks Chloe for reminding me that I stlll have clothes in the dryer from Sunday. Hey, at least they are dry. I sometimes forget and leave them wet in the washer for several days. Yuck.
