Hey, yelpers. This is my first post on Yelp. Go me.

Annnyway, I'm looking for a place that offers Brew On Premesis small batch beermaking. I'm ideally looking for a place where I can come in on a Sunday or Monday that offers a killer porter recipe.

Thanks in advance!

A killer porter? Eehhh.. not sure as to where there's a GOOD porter, but I can tell you where there is a BAD porter. The WAB has an onsight brewery, and they maker a porter... but it's a vanilla porter. And undrinkable. I wish I could direct you better, but I'm not a porter drinker. ;)

Only one of the following with off hours is Dragonmead. Don't think they are open on Sunday.

Here's a list of on sight breweries:

Motor City Brewing Works - they do a honey porter http://www.yelp.com/bi...
Bastone - not sure if they do a porter, but they've got tasty Belgian style beers
Kuhnhenn - does tons of beers, haven't been there yet: http://www.yelp.com/bi...
Dragonmead - yet another brewery I haven't gone to yet, but they have like a TON of beers, on sight (I BELIEVE) and has its own compulsive brew team: http://www.yelp.com/bi...

Upon re-reading, I have no idea if I answered your question. Are you looking for a home-brewing kind of place, or just a microbrewery?

I'm ideally looking for a craft brewery that does brew on premises, meaning you pay them a couple hundred bucks for materials and you get to use their equipment to make a batch of beer. Kuhnhenn does it, but only on Thursday and Saturday, which doesn't work with my schedule.

Black Lotus has a pretty solid brewery on site, but I don't know that they'd let you use their equipment.

I dont think you're ever going to find what you're looking for in a brewery.. They are required to be completely sterile and typically only allow the brewmaster to use the equipment.

Some craft breweries actually do offer this service, and some places completely make a living in walking newbies through beermaking. Kuhnhenn brewery does BOP, for example: http://www.kbrewery.co... . I'm just trying to find another craft brewery or a dedicated BOP location where I might go in with a few friends and make our own beer.
