Has anyone ever taken a t-shirt altered to be a smaller size?

I feel kinda dumb taking it to a tailor, since it's just a t-shirt, but I'd like to wear it since it has sentimental value..
It's an Large and I'm a size small, so I dont dare wear it outside because I'd look like a kite.

I'm not at all handy with a sewing machine, so that's not an option since I'd probably butcher it.

it seems like a simple job, but I guess I'm just wary of being mocked for bringing in a t-shirt.

I read something in GQ.  Apparently it is more common thank you, or I, thought!

Do it!

My family (not me, i do my own sowing) has been going to the same seamstress/cleaning lady for some 50 or so years.  Just don't go drinking with her.  Not only will she drink you under the table, she will try to grab your ass.    Corner of First and Bailey.

T-shirt alterations or T-shirt surgery is kind of a big deal for some people.  There is a bunch of ways to re-fit a t-shirt, some requiring a sewing machine, and others, no thread at all.  You might want to check it out

if you don't sew and want the shirt to look nice, then i would take it to a tailor.  i've done it before, and it's not a problem.  but it does get $pendy depending on where you go - sleeves taken up, sides taken in, hemmed!  it's a simple job but it adds up!  but now i wear my shirt all the time.  it's worth it!

i order from this ebay seller all the time.  her t-shirt alterations are great.  i have several of her shirts and have never had an issue with seams coming apart or anything.  quality work.  she's taking custom orders right now, will alter your shirt for $20 cash:

well the issue isnt that I cant find any shirts that fit, i just have several T-shirts that are a Large that I either got for free or are concert t-shirts that have sentimental value.

it'd be great to wear them without having my waist exposed through the armhole.

right.  so that's why i got my size mens tent sized XL warriors (can you dig it) shirt, which i LOVE to death, tailored to fit.  it would sit in my closet but i wear the shizzz out of it now.

mad*foxes on ebay gave my old huuuuuge ass suicidal tendencies shirt (very sentimental to me) a cute scoop neck and cap sleeves and a girlie fit.  i also wear the f*ck out of that too now.

good luck!

thanks for the input guys.. and Im glad i 'm not the only one who feels nuts about getting a tshirt fixed.

does anyone have any actual figures on how much something like this would cost? $20+?

I wouldnt mind really, since some of these shirts were free anyway.
