I have just moved from Arizona to Union City area and not really familiar with my surrounding. I'm just wondering if anyone could offer me few suggestions of activities that i can keep my free hours occupy with.

What about restaurant too ??? I have only been here in Union City about close to 2 months i noticed that there are "one" of everything around here... not much of choices ...

What people here do to have fun?  Please advise...

Most of them take grammar classes at the local College.

Not from Yoda.

Mission Pizza is pretty cool. It's in Fremont. Activity-wise, there's City Beach (also in Fremont) which has rock-climbing walls, and tons of other sports stuff, plus a restaurant and bar that turns club-ish at night.

Welcome to the Bay Area Will.

I lived in Fremont for a long time and have to say that I totally took advantage of how close I was to other cities with really cool things to do.  Try heading towards Berkeley or SF or you could even head south.  Fremont and Union City don't really have many fabulous activities that I'm aware of, pull out a map and check out some of the surrounding areas.  You can go in almost any direction and within 30 mins you'll find a million things to do.

Fremont in terms of activities:

Mission Peak for hiking.  Find hiking groups on Meetup.org.
Stevenson area has a ton of parks, you can join people playing a pickup game of Soccer or Cricket.
Fremont has a lot of places to eat, Indian, Afghan, Chinese (Irvington Area).

You can hop onto BART and get to SF or Berkeley where there is a lot more to do.

You can find a lot to do in UC/Fremont, it all depends on your taste and mode of transportation.

I second the hiking @ Mission Peak.
A run @ Lake Elizabeth.
Check out Pacific Commons, there is SOME nightlife there, in the Asian section, and there is a wine bar too.

On the weekends, check out the downtown areas of the South Bay: Castro St. @ Mountain View

Foodwise...

Yay for Asian food in the Tri-city and Milpitas!!!  That's something you surely missed while in AZ.  It's terrible there.

Union City:
Little Potato (Nor China)
Sheng Kee
Little Sheep Hot Pot
Mayflower (dimsum)

Newark:
Manna (Korean)
Tea Station

Fremont:
Semo Sushi
Tango Sushi
Cafe Zen
37 Dessert
Le Moose Crepe Cafe
Four season Tofu House (Korean)

Milpitas:
Nutrition House (Nor China)
Kang Nam Tofu House (Korean)

Oh and back to what to do...there is a HUGE outlet mall, mainly outlets in Milpitas, the Great Mall.  Try not to go on the weekends, unless you want to be jostled and want strollers run into your feet.

Livermore Valley is only a few minutes away from Fremont for Wine Tasting.

If you've got a bike, you can ride along the Alameda Creek Trail from Mission Blvd all the way to Coyote Hills and the Bay. Coyote Hills is also a cool place to go for a walk or Hang Out.

Besides the Saddlerack you've got Coach's and some other bars. Lake Elizabeth is a good place to go for a jog, rent some paddleboats or play tennis.

Good Chinese, Indian, American, Mexican, Afghan food. Several movie theatres, including Naz 8 for when you need your Bollywood fix.

Sure, it's not San Francisco, but there's plenty of stuff to do. Don't listen to the transplants dissing it who never leave the Mission, much less SF.

Arizona to the East Bay... now that's a difference.
Arizona has more restaurant options, compared to the Bay.

In the East Bay, I like... El Burro, Fuddruckers, Hooters (remembrance of Arizona, huh).
