Did anyone catch the beautiful lunar eclipse tonight? If so, where were you when you caught it?

me and my super zoom lens caught it outside of my building in van ness. it was frickin cold. but it was awesome - and if you caught the "guide to the lunar eclipse" on msnbc - they explained that saturn and regulus (the bluish star) were also in sight - forming a triangle with the moon. apparently this triangle is the only one of its kind occurring within the next millennium!

ok but the random part of the night was when this woman drove up to my friend and i and asked what was going on and what we were looking at...so we explained about the eclipse...and she was like - oh i knew something was going on - im all into astrology and then proceeded to say, "I know when it's a full moon....I can't sleep and I have restless night...so I know when it's a full moon..and that's not tonight because I'm tired."

we almost asked her if she was a werewolf!

I was on the airplane going to albuquerque.   Pilot made an announcement for everyone to look out the window.  I guess I was closer to the event than most people in the US.    This reminded me of the Christopher Columbus trick.......

Saw it off my balcony 15 floors up.  I kept running out every 10 mins to check on it as I watched Law and Order.  I'm glad it was a clear night, but I nearly froze my toes off standing outside.

I saw it a little before 9am...looked like Cookie Monster took a bite out of the moon!  We were on our way to get a little sum'thin to drink....

I couldn't see it from my apartment and our roof deck was closed so I sat by myself, in my pyjama pants, in the park across the street, in the freaking cold for an hour watching it. Couldn't feel my fingers or toes (despite wooly socks) after but it was totally worth it.

I've seen them before and have never really been impressed.  It was like watching the phases of the moon, though much much faster.  Now, if you really want to see a "steller" how (hardy har har)  Go out into the boondocks and watch a meteor shower.  We watched one in the Mojave a few months ago and it was amazing!

Oooh meteor showers...One of my best college memories is camping out under the stars in the courtyard of my dorm a few years back watching a meteor shower. I made like a million wishes, none of which have come true...yet. :)
