Personally, I think paintball, and am going to advocate this idea when I get back into town! But lets keep going here....

A hike and picnic?

A hunting trip?

Scavenger hunt!

Though to be Yelpie, it'd have to include things like "Best Pizza"... but we can't have half of the Yelpers heading to Chicago and half of them heading to NY, can we?

Scavenger hunt is an idea that could be ran with!

I see an appetizer scavenger hunt all over the city! Each team eats one, and then takes a marker to prove they were there! First team to make it to the last location wins!

Scott, they move islands on Lost. You can do it too.

Elite '08

05/16/2008 scott "ghetto food-court" k. says:

I can do more then move an island! I can tell you how Lost is going to end!

So here's what I think is happening on lost...

The reason you can move the island is that it's a experiment from the future that had it's origins in the 70's.

It explains the futuristic electronics, the cloud thing, the test animals... everything.

I'm thinking the island is a naturally occuring hole in time... some anomaly within space/time scientists decided they would try to exploit. It would explain the 19th century sailing ship called The Black Rock. In the 70's scientists noticed a kind of Burmuda Triangle, investigated, and discovered this warping of time.

So the plot goes something like this... in the 70's the Darma Initiative starts to sniff around doing all kinds of experiments on the island using electromagnetics to try to shift time. Those experiments fail, and the island is shifted into a nowhere void for a period of time. The Others represent present day scientists who found the island again, and were able to shift it back into reality just long enough to get trapped there themselves which is when the plane crashed. Now this new group with the ship represents a group from the future. Their goal is to use the technology of time travel to try to fix their dying world. To colonize the past with the people from the future. It's why they don't care who they kill to achieve their goals. All the stuff with preserving the children, and taking babies away has to do with that too. A baby from the past could be used to fix damaged DNA from the future.

Time travel is the only way to explain all of the people who have jumped around the episodes.

Anything I'm missing?

I think a scavenger hunt could be fun!  No need for people who don't want to eat each appetizer to feel bad!  The team thing would work.  At least one person on each team would have to eat the appetizer (or jointly)!  And we could try to make it more adventurous food or places!

I swear I was planning on  Dfens Scavenge Hunt as a type of follow up the the SF yelp scavenger hunt (they've just had their second) with prize money ($100 for 1st .. $50 for second) and a DYL afterwards.

Instead of tasting food or buying stuff it would be more like SF's. Basically you would have to go around the city with a team and take photos like one of someone  humping Rachel the Pig at Pike's Market, etc...

The only hesitation other than it being really lame was that no one would do it. Seattle Yelp events are not close to the size of SF or LA yet.

On the other hand we can have the 1st Annual Seattle Hipster Olympics. Something like this

It would be based around Pikes and Belltown. Everything within walking distance. It would happen on a Sunday in July. Teams would be be either two or three people. Digital Camera with USB connection (so I can post the photos afterwards) and cell phone required (the phone is just in case I need to bail you out of jail).

Technically there would be no cars allowed. At best you could take the bus but everything would be within walking distance so you wouldn't have to drive. It's nice to be outside every once in a while.

If people are interested let me know. It wouldn't be hard to organize especially since Kerrie is going to be around to do all the hard work *8P

I can do anything dead sober.  Anytime, day or night.  Even at 6am.   Even karaoke if I need to.

So scavenger hunts and hikes are a good start (paintball scares me).  More ideas, some off of my personal o-do list, and things I'd be willing to organize if people were interested:

Band jam - for people who have always wanted to be in a band, but don't necessarily even play instruments.
Rodeo attendance in some outlying county.
Columbia City Garden walk  (coming up June 14th).
Thematic potluck picnics, hitting parks in different parts of the city.  First proposal:  garlic in Garlic Gulch.
Exquisite Corpse writing party.
Field trip to a demolition derby (I know Scott has already done this, but I missed out).
Picnic at the Bloedel Reserve.
Tour bigass Boeing Plant in Everett.
Attend Strawberry Festival on Vashion (July 12-14).
Go whale watching.
Go on a free boat ride at The Center for Wooden Boats.
Go watch a race at the Marymoor Velodrome.
Clothing swap.
