Hey! Now that I have this hookah and have started learning about all the possibilities with it, I'm thinking of starting a "tasting group" if you will. The concept is that we would have a theme flavor of sheesha (vanilla and mint combined was a suggestion) and then everyone brings an alcohol that they think will pair well with the flavors. I'm really interested to see what people come up with!

Anyone else interested??

I bought a giant hookah at a garage sale once, and it was being sold by a sweet little old man.
I asked him what he used it for, and he said that it belonged to his son that used to live in the basement. He assured me that it was a incense burner, and that he could tell by the smell that was always coming from the basement.

I didn't have the heart to set him straight.

lol, whatever Scott!  I don't think one night every 3-4 weeks of water filtered, non-tar flavored tobacco is going to make us start talking w/ a raspy cough.

Everyone's always talking about pairing food and wine or food w/ mixed drinks. Well, if you can alter the taste of an already flavorful tobacco by putting things like fruit or mint leaves in the water - imagine how the flavors in alcohol could mix on the taste buds?

Seems like a cool experiment to me. I know Jodi and probably Hilary are in too. Perhaps Prema as well?

I'd be down. They have varieties of mint that smell like chocolate and orange. That might be yummy. Growing up we had both a chocolate mint and orange mint rowing in our herb pot. I wonder if you can still buy them at the nursery...

Wow. We played a show during a "hookah" night in California once. What we discovered is that Who's The Boss mixed nicely with the hookah smoke to make an interesting sensory flavor.

I'd be interested just to find out how the hell a hookah works. And I've got bottles and bottles of alcohol i'm never gonna drink.
