Yeah, I just sent him a compliment to write more! Pretty much we do see that happen, and oftentimes it's just someone new to to Yelp getting a feel for things. Go easy on him!

B. D. says:
I don't see a problem with this..

Marina N. says:
It's akin to rating a place that you haven't been to, because you've heard something about it or had something tangentially related to say. You hope people will come back to them later and update.

What's funny is he has 6 fans... some people that write a lot don't get that many...
05/11/2008
Sara F. says:
he's kinda cute. i'd FUC him!

Alan S. says:
I just sent him a "Just A Note" that said:
You know: rivets are a lot like nipples.

Zachary S. says:
I find it a little fishy that every single review has been FUC'd, often repeatedly...
Sounds like someone has a few dummy accounts to make himself more e-popular...

Caroline "Nuh-uh...I am the one and only Andrew H." B. says:
This happens all the time in LA & SD. Just a couple of weeks ago...we had a woman who had cranked out almost 100 reviews like this in the span of a couple of days.
One of our guys posted a thread to point it out to us...without bothering to send her a simple PM to explain that you should write something (if even a few sentences) to substantiate your reviews.
A few of our people were rather cruel to her on the thread. She answered with warmth, innocence and very no defensive attitude whatsoever...she just didn't know you were supposed to write anything other than marking a rating.
Nevertheless...it takes a certain amount of work just to yank up all of the business info.
She was reemed a new bung holio by a couple of idiots on our threads...and has now left the site. =(

Gusty S. says:
I could see how some new users would mistake the process of giving the venue x amount of stars constituted a full review.
Don't be harsh on him, because it IS still valid info. He did rate all his reviews with a specific star value, so he is giving his opinion on the quality.

Nilesh "newbie yelper" D. says:
Wow.. did not know just adding some ratings on yelp would cause such a commotion... definitely a strong community.. love the community :) I am new to yelping and just trying out the features. I thought I'd rate the recent places I've been to and later on add some comments. As Siobhan said, I'm not great at articulating myself, but I'll write some comments on the ratings I've made. I am yelp newbie.. so sorry, if I am doing things against the unwritten rules of the community.
BTW, What's a FUC and ROTD?? Educate me folks..
05/11/2008
Sara F. says:
nilesh, don't let people scare you away. keep on yelping your little heart out!
FUC= funny, useful, cool
ROTD= reviewer of the day
05/11/2008
Nish N. says:
Glad to have you on board, Nilesh!
05/11/2008
Nilesh "newbie yelper" D. says:
Thanks Sara. I sure will.
I was also wondering about the FUCs. "Your reviews have 125 Useful, 100 Funny, and 124 Cool votes." I thought that either yelp artificially inflates this number for new users or the community is very thrivingly active.. as its an extremely high activity rate for within one hour of posting some stars..
Definitely, as someone mentioned, I did not create any dummy accounts to self-FUC myself :) That'd be too many accounts for the amount of FUCs.
05/11/2008
Sara F. says:
holy crap, you already have 125 useful, 100 funny and 124 cool! wow, way to go!
05/11/2008
Zachary S. says:
Sorry Nilesh, It just looked a little suspect. I definitely retract that one. Welcome aboard!

Daniel "the yellow dart" A. says:
so, if all of my reviews had been empty, i would have more votes than i do now?
sorry, nilesh - i don't mean this as a stab at you... welcome to yelp and don't let this thread discourage you from writing more.
but it just makes me kind of disappointed in the system to see that i'd be better off without all the effort i've put in.

Siobhan "more useful than funny" F. says:
I actually did the same thing when I was very new to Yelp (just joined in March).
I was excited to go through and find all of my favorite/despised spots, I rated them quickly, then went back through and wrote reviews later.

Yasmine "ooops" R. says:
LMAO, my new friend is at:
184 Useful, 174 Funny, and 174 Cool
In one afternoon! He'll probably be Elite next week.

m e l i s s a "LADI DA" A. says:
It's really NOT cool to call people out on threads who have done nothing to deserve negative attention.
It's none of your business if he rated places with no explanation.
You are NOT the Yelp review police.
You should focus on your own reviews and those of your friends (although, I see you have added the poor guy). Again, this thread was a bad call on your part.
