My friend was in the last batch of Austin, TX's What not to Wear folks.
The film crew was apparently really obvious. She knew she was being filmed after a couple days.
But yeah, they do the filming (for like 2-3 weeks, not one week like they say), then leave, then come back and 'surprise' the person, then a month or two later you get sent to NY, then you do the 'reveal' at home, then it airs a few weeks/month later.
