I walked by No Name Sushi today and it was empty. There was nothing inside the building at all, no counters, no tables, nothing. I am wondering if they are remodeling, moving, or closed down.  No Name Sushi (Yokoso Nippon) is located at 314 Church St.

There were some BAD reviews on here...hinting at health code issues so that's one possible reason. I also know there was a fire in one of the apartments above it, so it could be building issues.

All the insinuations about health code violations were bullshit.

That is, unless there was a really recent test done that's not online yet, and Yokoso flunked. I would tend to think it might be more related to the fire upstairs. I remember one time I was eating there and the crazy lady who was always the waitress was smoking outside and told me out of the blue how there had been a fire there. Maybe she told that to everyone.

Anyway, it's a sad, sad day.

The fire was over a year ago.  They do have a branch in daly city, though.
I did see them cleaning up one night, and it was a bit scary.

I forgot to mention that I really love that place.  Any restaurant that allows you to "Brown Bag It" in my book gets some high marks

Back in the day, there was always a line out the door on weekends.  And many weeknights.  They always had the best miso soup in SF ... full of lots of veggies.

It definitely did get worse over the past few years.  I've been going there since the 80s.  At one time, it was quite good ... but toward the end, they started using poorer quality fish and it was not so fresh.  I got sick there once.  Sad to see it get to be that way.

It was comforting in a way to see a place that didn't go upscale as the neighborhood got better.  But now the neighborhood is getting worse as the economic depression worsens, and having that vacant and dirty storefront just makes it all the more obvious.
