Bud "Always missing the point" E. says:
Pretentious self-absorbed sanctimonious ass-hats.
Oh, and some of those P S-A S A-H SF'ers are my dearest friends and I wouldn't know what to do without them.
I like how I can sense old SF money (widows, actually). Sometimes I get a feeling about someone and when I talk to them about their roots, their story always falls into the old sf money category. Now if I could just pick up on that same feeling for young SF women (single) from old SF money. I guess my radar only works for old women.

San Francisco is such a melting pot. There is no stereotypical SF person. Everything and everybody. That's SF.

John "Da Bull" G. says:
San Francisco is a Salad Bar
They all retain who they are, but they contribute their own unique flavor to the bowl.

Tara R. says:
Self-righteous in the most well-meaning way possible. We've got City Complex and hate New York City in some ways, (always competed with them, historically), but we desperately want to be it.
Someone also told me once that SF was the land of the butterfaces, though I'm going to avoid endorsing or rejecting that notion.

John "SupahJ" D. says:
Agree with Patrick, and just FYI us natives view 90% of you as interlopers who will go back to where you came from. You may have been here for 10 years but your not a San Franciscan, not a negative just true.
Also we know SF is a small city and we all know each other.

Peter M. says:
If someone from San Francisco asks you how you are doing they don't mean it.
If someone from New York tells you to fuck off they mean it.
I'll take New York anyday.

Susan "well, that's just ducky!" S. says:
After having two children with one and another with fourth generation San Franciscans, my observation over time has been this. They remind me of many natives of Amsterdam (or Copenhagen) in the sense that they are witty, intelligent, and far more tolerant then many major cities globally. Yet, like in Amsterdam (or even Las Vegas to some degree), the several "generationed "natives have an interesting paradoxical Puritanical bent as well. One thing that differs is that it's hard to always know who your "real" friends are here. Not that it doesn't happen everywhere but I think Peter M. spelled it out above in terms of what feels "real" at times.

Here's a clue.
The accent:

Sanfran Cisco = Ding Ding Ding winner!
and when they ask what school you went to, their asking Highschool.
Now back to the bridge and tunnel. 8-)

You know... I take back my +1.. I don't hate it.. L.A. has it's virtues. I just wouldn't want to live there. I think the guys that were born and live there are morons.. Women from L.A. usually rock my world too.. Especially love the ones that move here permanently...

Patrick "ShamWow" B. says:
a lot of people associate LA with either Disneyland or Hollywood. That's like associating SF with Pier 39.
