Remember when everyone gets those letters in the mail with the name of their freshman year roommate for college?  Mine was SUSAN.  I proceeded to tell one of my friends about how it sounded like I was moving in with a middleaged woman.  Her response - "that's my mom's name".

That's when I learned to stop saying things about names.

(PS the roommate actually went by her middle name, and she wasn't middleaged)

I think we do associate names to previous people/experiences so we stay away from them.  For me I would never name my children Melissa or Michael.  "Kids" with those names always seemed to be trouble makers.

Exciting names would be Zeus, Justice or Jedediah?!

I also do not like the name NICKI, NIKKI... I have never met a sweet Nicki.

But my parents named me Nichole, because it sounded good with Michelle, my older sister!
