Here goes another charity thread!

In addition to the GOTR charity fundraiser, I am also on the committee for Princess Project.  The Princess Project provides FREE prom dresses and accessories to high school girls who otherwise cannot afford them.  It's a fantastic organization and we've served over 5,000 girls since 2002, with giveaways in San Francisco, Oakland, and Silicon Valley.  This year we'll be serving San Diego as well!

Here are the dress guidelines:

-Dresses MUST be from 2002 to present.
-Dresses MUST be dry-cleaned and on hangers.
-Dresses MUST be prom dresses, formal gowns, or fancy party dresses.
-Accessories MUST be stylish, clean, and in excellent condition.   (We are currently seeking earrings, necklaces, purses, shawls/wraps, tiaras, etc)

We cannot accept:

-garments that are out of style (purchased before 2002)
-garments that have not been dry-cleaned
-shoes
-make-up
-casual or semi-formal clothing
-wedding dresses
-tuxedos or men's clothes

Try working with the various David's Bridal locations as they tend to be heavy in the prom area as well -- perhaps they are willing to do alterations on their overstock they can't get rid of.

Thanks, ladies!

While we will gladly accept any of the dresses that meet our guidelines, we REALLY need dresses in small (size 00-2) and larger sizes (sizes 14+) as we tend to get a lot of dresses in the 4-10 range.

AND, if anyone works for a company who would be willing to do an in-kind donation for items such as dresses, accessories, or cosmetics (we do a goodie bag for each of the girls to take with them when they find a dress), please contact be at bernadette(at)http://princessproject....

I love this idea. You should contact the Jessica McClintock Outlet, it's in SF - Potero. They would probably make a donation, they have TONS of dresses and they go on super clearance markdown from like 400. to 20. to 10. - so I'm sure they have some for you.

I have a great dress that was custom-made and unfortunately doesn't fit me anymore. It will be perfect for a little girl with giant knockers

Rebekah, you'd be surprised.  None of the companies that we've contacted have wanted to donate...it's the economy, no one's giving anything away for free!!

I definitely have a few things to donate. I can't seem to find the info on where to donate them on the website?
