I got my hair highlighted (a fabulous shade of purple!) yesterday. I didn't wash it today on the advice of my stylist but I neglected to ask her for a recommendation on shampoo. I've got an oily head so I HAVE to wash it tomorrow but I don't want to wash out all my purty color (which I've done before like a dumbass). Suggestions?

thanks yelpers!

Call your stylist? You know you'll get the kitchen sink here on Yelp.

"Colored hair" is not PC.
We prefer the term "ethnic".

Get the hair sunscreen from pureology. That will save your color more than any shampoo.

I second on the Aveda's Color Conserve - super nice and gentle on the hair.

Another Pureology vote...they have lots of products to help save your color.

It is spendy, yet the stuff goes a looooooooooooooong way;
I use about 1/2 the amount of other shampoos & conditioners.

Tidbit:
Target sells some of the Pureology line for less $ than beauty supply stores.

1. Pureology - best, smells great, and expensive. I get it cheaper on Amazon with free delivery

2. Aveda's Color Conserve - another good one - best ingredient list - all natural of course

3. Redken's Color Extend - also good and generally less expensive. it is kind of watery

Beauty Source usually has all of these choices and you can get a frequent purchaser card. I recently saw pureology at Target and I was very surprised. It is usually at high-end salons.

After highlights, I like to use pureology for a week or so and then I rotate it with the others. I think pureology is a little expensive for everyday use.
