I am new to yelp and want to know what makes you mad here so I can avoid making those mistakes and making people ticked off at me?

We get annoyed when people put too many syllables in their haiku and they are called out immediately.

Valerie M. says:
What make me mad in beginning was how clique-ish Yelp seems at first. But if you are sincere and you keep yelping and reviewing people welcome you with open arms very quickly. I think a lot of people are turned off to it at first because it seems hard to infiltrate.

Well, we should take both sides into consideration. I can see how we may appear clique-y to those who don't readily participate on the threads. I was very reticent because of the perceived clique factor as sometimes my messages were ignored and sometimes they were. I didn't dwell on the times they were ignored, rather I was positive and (hopefully) exuded a positive energy. Eventually people accepted me and now ... well, I don't know where I stand with reggards to yelp, but that doesn't bother me, I know people read what I write because I read what everyone else writes, or try to at least.

It's hard to break into any new environment.....a new workplace, a new hangout, whatever. I don't see that Yelp is unwelcoming to friendly people.

Francisco, you mean you can't feel the love of your fellow Yelpers?

francisco l. On my frequent flyer bulletin board I joke that I have the ability to stop any thread. So I do not get upset if people do not respond. Beside this isn't a popularity contest....uh...well....maybe it is. :)

Hello people. Let's read the question. It wasn't what makes you mad - in general. It was, and I quote: "what makes you mad HERE so I can avoid making those mistakes ".

I get mad when my mom smacks her gum. She knows I hate it and when she's in a bad mood she does it extra loud. It makes me cringe.

You know what, I'm new and I really feel as if the whole site is super ultra cool! As many may have felt, and I still do at times but don't really worry about it, my posts do not always get responses. But sometimes, I have found that I have missed some responses to my posts when looking back at some threads.... Folks are also on the lookout for trolls.....
Now I'm rambling......
So far, I am really happy I have joined up and started reviewing and "talking"...
I can't believe some folks even read my reviews! That makes me feel good!
*maybe the 2 pints of beer are talkin at this point*

talk threads in sf go faster than speed of light....so threads vanish to the next page quickly before people had a chance to read it....unless topic is about panties, boobies, condoms, etc. talk thread vanish quick....
my only gripe is my request to have people's review sorted by cities or zip code has been ignored...maybe i should kiss up to the yelp gods more..aka admins...
joan s..maybe you can pass on my message to your son for me... :) ...hehehehe....

cheri..i'm looking at the frequent flyer thing as i type this right now...omg..pretty cool...a community for the flying airport warriors...that's me~!....
i usually only get to hang with sf yelpers on weekdays....and like the fact yelp parties are always random weekdays like tuesday or wednesday...since i'm always traveling every weekend....so sf yelp fits my schedule perfectly.....wanted to meet up with yelpers in other cities..but..it's little more difficult since i'm a stranger to cities outside of norcal....but it's understandable...

www.flyertalk.com is the website. go to community then community buzz and see where everyone is getting together all over the world. Also, they have hotel, car rental, and airline forums. People swap upgrades from one airline to another. There are post about mistakes made such as United Airlines once had a round trip airfare available from LAX to CDG for $49 which everyone bought and they ended up giving us all $600 credits for future flights.

Cheri "FT wingless" A. says:
Also if you want cheap flights or ways to get the most miles for the buck they have mileage runs such as to singapore to earn you lots of miles for a somewhat low price. Some people never even leave the airport and turn return a few hours later. I am not that crazy though.

cheri...thanks for introducing me to that...i already joined and contributed....seems like a good idea for frequent flyers to swap miles, upgrades and individual coupon codes....i've flown strictly united forever..don't even know what other airlines are like....i fly an average of 60 to 80 flights per year~!...i've mastered the art of sleeping before take off and waking up at deboarding time....

oh yeah....don't you hate people that hijack their own thread?.....hahaha....okay...b
ack to the subject in hand....it does kinda annoy me when people write fake reviews to jack ratings up or down....oh well..but in the end..i realize the overall ratings speak the truth in the end....

cheri...on another note...i say this out of new found yelp-friendship...(truly no offense)....but..you might want to elaborate more on your reviews...and give little more useful information...
btw...when i first started yelpin'....i learned using phrases like "jap"..."flip"..."viet"
...alth ough i never meant it in a racist way..i just like to use shorten'd form words.....learned it offends people....that was not an easy task fixing every review....
01/31/2007
Cheri "FT wingless" A. says:
hen a. Hopefully I did not say anything to offend anyone. I will try to elaborate more although some of the places I reviewed I have not been to for a while such as some of the hotels and I do not remember things such as the rooms decor. I swear I am not trying to pad my posts. Also, I do not want to repeat things that other people posted. No offense taken.
