I am not a cat person. Matter of fact I did not want to get a cat until my SO said he wanted one. I love him dearly now though. I think everyone should put pictures of there pets on their profile unless there pet is too shy.

There is nothing I hate more than all those damn cat pictures in people's profiles. If I wanted to see cats, I'd go to a retirement home for spinsters. And I'd laugh.

Why don't people post fish pictures?
Snakes?
Peacocks.
Or, you know, pix of yourself.

I won't date a guy unless he likes cats. They've been around longer than him ;)

Masa, they're adorable.
I didn't want a cat either, but when I lived in Woodland Hills I found one by the side of the road, starving. Eventually I took him home because it was easier than driving to feed him. Plus, he managed to charm his way into my heart. I even reviewed him, but for some reason I am unable to organize my reviews alphabetically this morning, so I can't find it. His photos have been on my profile all along too.
I was feeding another homeless kitty in my neighborhood, couldn't catch him even with the help of animal control and cat rescue people. Gail....you know the one I mentioned. He didn't survive the recent cold snap, evidently, because I haven't seen him in 3 weeks. He was sick to begin with.
Kindhearted animal lovers are my kind of people.

Just put my slightly psychotic rescue dog on my profile. That poor dog is insane, she's actually going on anti-anxiety medication later this month.

Joan, that is so sad about the homeless kitty in your neighborhood! You have a good heart for trying to rescue it!
OK - not only did I put a picture of my big hunk of a cat in my profile, but I also reviewed the service where I found her. They also try to find homes for dogs, bunnies, etc.

I can't ever turn my back on an animal in distress, Heather. As much as I sometimes wish I could, It's not possible.
That cat waited for me before dawn, so I was getting up at 5am to run 3 blocks over to feed him. Every day for months, until a few weeks ago. He was too scared to come out later in the day.

I just posted a couple more pix of Ravi. I too was never a cat person until a few years ago when a neighborhood cat decided to make my house his day spa. Sadly he was hit by a car a year ago, but last summer some friends knocked on my door: they had found a little flea-bitten kitten in some bushes, hiding from a ferocious dog. Today he is the happiest, friendliest cat ever. He continues to convert cat-haters on a regular basis!

This chump ran away for two days. My niece found him outside this morning and now his white paws are grey. I'll learn him some obedience with a nice warm bath.

Joan "of Yelp" S. says:
Good luck with that, frank. Mine would tear my face off if I tried to give him a bath.

i've done it once before and suffered several clawings, but his paws are to be white, and only white. plus i don't want him licking all that dirt off himself.

You're right, and I admire your courage! Those rubber gloves that go up to the elbow are helpful for handling cats. They are intended for use when pruning rosebushes. I got mine at Home Depot or some nursery, can't recall.

frank L. says:
Ah, that's a great tip as it'll also allow me to wash his boy parts or lack thereof. Except his butt, he's always cleaning that himself.

I can't trim my BJ's claws! He won't hold still, even if someone else is helping me. I just put up with his sharp claws, and my thighs are always scabby! haha!! (actually, it's not as bad as it sounds..)

Joan: So sorry about the kitty. I know that's really a rough one.
I posted one of my kitties (Nin) pics when I first arrived on Yelp and she is still there. I have to post a pic of my other one, Nicolette. I feel so sorry for her because she just had a bladder infection and I had to give her antibiotics for 3 weeks. She doesn't take kindly to having a dropper or medicine placed in her little mouth. She spits it up, shakes her head with her mouth open (full with the Pink medicine) and it then splatters everywhere... or squeezes her mouth so tight...(after I've just put fed her some of the stuff) that it comes streaming down the sides of her mouth... *sigh lol
Well, I thought that she was all better but I can tell that it's back and she's crying and miserable! I feel so sorry for her, so, I'm off to the vet right now. Please think good thoughts for her. Have fun guys. :-)

Lisa H. says:
Its important to clip them often because if you don't then they can grow so long that they form a semi circle and dig into it's paws.
I clip my cats paws but Joan, you might try covering your legs up with towels or something... Maybe two pairs of sweatpants and then towels over.. lol

my little bebe's pic has been up for awhile. she's been to college w/ me, and drove across country - she's my little trooper. i luv her so!! :)

Gail H. says:
Lisa, my BJ seems to scratch on his post enough that they don't grow funny, but they are always sharp. I don't take them to the Vet, so I can't get them clipped. I did have a Vet come by and clip them a couple of times, but it's expensive. You have to start when they're young and keep doing it, so they get used to it. I don't know why I didn't do that. My other cat, Cosmo, doesn't get clipped either, but his claws don't bother me.
Lisa, also hope your kitty is OK. It's so hard to see them in pain, or to just know that they're not feeling well. God love 'em!!!!
Daryl, I'll post my legs soon. Stay tuned....haha.
