Were you able to find any round trip flights for under $1000? I am looking to go to London anytime this summer as well.

define good?
I would never go to London in this time.
It is waaaaaay tooooooooo expensive and besides they have nothing new to see. The same London Bridge, the same palace, the same queen, the same wax museum, same everything.
Go to some 3rd world country where the US dollar is still worth something.
London accomodation is ~$36 for a bunk bed in a youth hostel. Same bunk bed in Thailand is $9.
Well, you get my point.
Sorry cannot help you unless you define what good means.

As someone who moved to London from SF and goes back and forth quite a bit...it's almost impossible to get a flight under $1,000. I saw a flight a year ago for $850 on Virgin (inc taxes/fuel/etc) and I snapped it up...haven't seen one since.
Under the new Open Skies law coming into effect later this year, things may get a bit better because airlines will be able to fly into Gatwick, which has much lower landing fees.
As for Gur's comment, London is extremely expensive but it's an incredible city. Also, once you're here you are a two hour plane flight to the rest of Europe where things are at least a bit cheaper. It's not London's fault the dollar has become the North American Peso.

I just went 2 weeks ago and got a flight (~3 weeks prior) direct SFO to LHR for under $600. United had the best rates by far at that time. Believe it or not, Virgin also had some competitive rates.

Anne-Marie,
I'm looking at airfares for mid-June myself, but I've not been able to find anything non-stop SFO-LHR for under $1200. It appears that the taxes and fuel surcharges on that route (over $450 rt) have caused costs to skyrocket.

Yeah, I saw a flight for $500 RT. Where? I'm not going to tell you.
Oh wait...flight pricing is dynamic! It changes all the time!
Seriously, what kind of question is that? Flights have always been expensive to Europe in the summer, and this year they're even more expensive. Trying to find a flight to London in the summer for under $1200-$1500 is near impossible.

Yes, I've seen all those things. And it's not a super time to go to Europe. But I have to go to my fake brother's wedding. And damn it, it has to be in the summer. Good would be closer to 1000 than I've seen I guess. I went for $200 four years ago and yes, I realize those days are gone.

On a side note, beware of your booking day, not the day of your flight, but the day that you book your ticket. I know there are a million rumors about certain days being cheaper when your booking, but it turned about to be true, I did a mini research study over the last few weeks when searching for tickets and I saved $300 booking the same exam ticket (same location, same dates, times, flights, airline, dealer, etc) on a Weds instead of on a Fri. Weird? I think so, but just keep it in mind.
