I will be in Manhattan this weekend and would like to find a bar to watch the Cotto vs. Margarito fight Saturday night. Any advice or anyone know a place that might be showing the fight?

Definitely call any place first and see if they have a cover. I watched Mayweather-Hatton at Tonic East, they didn't charge a cover and the crowd was really into it so it was a great atmosphere. I'd also check out Mean Fiddler (although they'll probably have a cover).
If you're willing to go to Astoria, McCann's close to the Ditmars Ave. stop on the N shows all the big fights, usually without a cover.

So I went to 1849 -- they had the fight on -- no cover -- great time. Plus they had the Mets game on -- so I was able to watch the fight and the Mets game. Sometimes places will turn all TVs to the main event. This was a great suggestion and it made my weekend! thanks again.

Surprised that there's not more convo about this with the large Puerto Rican population in NY. It was a hell of a fight, and Margarito was a beast!

It was a great fight...and Margarito took some shot early on. I thought Cotto looked better early -- but Margarito withstood some heavy punches and wore Cotto down. He was obviously bothered by the bloody nose and cut above his eye. I can't believe he just took a knee twice...was disappointed how it ended but still probably one of the better fights I jave seen in a while.

Cotto looked better early on, but he couldnt keep up the same pace that Tony set. Max had it exactly right that Margarito did to Cotto what Cotto usually does to his opponents. He was forced to fight Tony's fight, which includes a lot more volume and a higher tempo than Cotto is used to. I dont see any shame in the end of the fight for Cotto. At that point, there was nothing left for him to do, and it was an excellent stoppage on the part of his corner. The cameraman focusing on Cotto's sobbing wife and kid for a full minute should be fired...

Bill T. says:
Well...I think the image of the kid and wife shows the passion these fighters and families have. I think it gives the fighter a personal side -- many times people don't fully understand what is sacrificed. So I don't have a major issue with showing the family in tears. I agree the corner did the right thing...I was more disappointed that Cotto took a knee the second time without even a punch being thrown. But Margarito's intensity truly came through. So will Mayweather come out of retirement to fight Margarito?
