hello - can anyone recommend a cheap and decent place to stay in nyc? a total of 4 of us will be heading out there in november. looking to spend nothing more than $200/night. i looked into places like the pod, some bed & breakfast places, etc... but none of them are available. just wanted to see if anyone has any recommendations on where they stayed? thanks!

I stayed at the Edison Hotel on 47th last time I was there.

Got a good deal and it was clean and close to Broadway.

Hmmmm........maybe I should review it.

I tell everyone asking this question which happens a lot to check out the waterfront hotels in Jersey City.  They are cheaper and newer and larger and cleaner than any of the moderately priced hotels in NYC and as close or closer to much of the city than much of Manhattan!  There is a Hyatt, a Doubletree, a Courtyard, a Candletree Suites and at least one other, all built within the last three years.  The Hyatt has an EXCELLENT restaurant, as does the Doubletree.  I would go to http://Orbitz.com or something and see what you can scrounge up, pricewise and availswise.
