Used to live in Dallas, where I was quite taken by brisket tacos - - places like

Mia's http://www.miastexmex.com
or
Mi Cocina http://www.mcrowd.com/...
or
Manny's http://www.mannysuptow...

Heard a rumor that someone even started a place (upper east?) with specific type of cuisine....

If you've had them, you'll know exactly what I mean.....Anyone seen this in NYC at all?

That sounds fantastic - how is the brisket dealt with? Thinly shaved?

I may have to make some next time I smoke a brisket

1st of all a little history - the 3 restaurants are intertwined in that one spun off one which spun off another.

Shredded brisket au jus with onions, your choice of tortillas.

AND

you wash that down with a Mambo Taxi....which is a swirl of frozen margarita and frozen sangria

Someone help these New Yorkers find brisket tacos :) ! !

Good luck finding those tacos, Craig. I look forward to trying them someday.

I'm also lamenting the state of Mexican food in NY - I'm waiting on Fati to pop up some day and say she has found a decent place.

This Mambo Taxi drink sounds like a perfect way to wipe one's memory of the work week away

well, this place doesn't have dallas-style tacos but they're my fave in nyc:  http://www.yelp.com/bi...

and this might be more of an Austin thing but, if you like Migas, I recommend the migas here...http://www.yelp.com/bi...

Craig and all,

Mico, son of Mia and nephew of Butch and past owner of the Mi Cocina chain ( all the websites you listed in initial post) is working on a restaurant in NYC.  You can probably get a reply from him through about the details through the contact us link on Mia's website.
