Hello, New Buffalo yelpers!
2 of my girlfriends and I are looking to get away from Chicago for a weekend, and are thinking that New Buffalo would be a good option. We are going the weekend of 10/9, and are thinking about doing a wine tour and staying at the Harbor Grand - do you think that's a good plan? Does anyone have any suggestions for a fun and relaxing girls weekend in New Buffalo (including restaurants, things to do, lodging)?
Thanks for your help!
Laura

Apparently New Buffalo Yelp is pretty quiet.
It sounds like a fun plan. Check out Brewster's for delicious Italian and Oinks for amazing ice cream. If you want to commune with nature a bit, go to Warren Dunes state park. And shopping at the Michigan City outlets, of course.

Laura - it depends on what you want to do on your fun weekend. If you want to wine taste, that would be the place to do it; however, you should know that some places are now charging to taste wine. You know, one person ruined it for the rest of us. If I were to go away for the weekend (which I do frequently), I'd hit Indianapolis. They have a neat bar scene (although I'm a little old for it) and the shopping and restaurants are great. They also have the art museum, but again, it depends on what you want to do. I think New Buffalo is pretty dead this time of year, but you'd be able to get good rates on places to stay. Even Chicago would be fun - catch a play, etc.

L.R. - lol... they want to "get away from Chicago"... New Buffalo isn't quite as dead as you'd think this time of year. Go to Bentwood on a Friday night - packed! Not that every place has to be packed to be exciting. You're getting away for yourself... not the crowds of people that may or may not be around you. If you're determined to have a good time, you'll have a great time in New Buffalo any time of year.
