Hey everyone!
My name is Matthew and I run Minneapolis Inspections. We offer mobile vehicle inspections and personal consultation. Minneapolis Inspections is fairly new to Yelp but I would like to get some important points out there. We deal with a lot of dishonest auto repair shops out there and want everyone out there to know that it doesn't have to be you at one of those shops. So being that Yelp is here to help people protect themselves from bad repair shops by the reviews it's users write, it was only natural for me to post this.
My question for concern here is this,
Say you were like an innocent young woman ( I'm doing a typical stereotype for the auto repair industry - its just an example and I'm not trying to offend anyone ) , the type of woman the repair shops could easily take advantage of because they thought she knew nothing about her vehicle. You walked into a repair shop and bought a complete vehicle inspection for your vehicle. You waited while they looked over your vehicle and than were told you needed a few things. They went over the estimate with you and said you needed front brake pads and rotors and a coolant and transmission flush. Little do they know, you know exactly how all those systems work and know exactly how to check to see if they are lying to you.
What would you give to walk over to your vehicle with them and show them exactly why they're wrong and that they are lying to you and you wont be buying anything or every coming back?
Proving that someone is lying to you can be a feeling of great empowerment!
Thanks for posting everyone - Have a great day.

Kate "viva la woman" K. says:
Okay, As a seemingly vulnerable "Young woman" I Have always been great full that I insisted on helping my older brothers and father when working on the car. In the situation stated above I wouldn't give something- i would just do it. So many people get ripped off. I mean there are variables to consider, such as, how shady the place is- in this case I would tell them that I would have noticed if my break pads and rotors were going when I slow and stop. and as the flush goes super easy maintenance they could do it or I probably do it myself. I think it is never a bad idea to get a second opinion on bigger more expensive jobs.
