Its from the wildfires in west and north florida due to the drought conditions in the 'glades and south florida.
some idiot rode his jeep buggy through the swamp and the engine caught fire, causing the fires out in the everglades a few weeks ago. thanks to that, alligator alley/i-75 keeps shutting down due to bad weather visibility:

The smoky air is making me think of the times I had been living in Texas. I can't wait to get the feeling that I'm back in Florida! I already miss the blue skies. It is times like these we start to realize that we've taken living in South Florida for granted. Come on, cold front, blow it all away!
