I am looking for a company in San Mateo or Santa Clara to convert several of my family films that are currently in VHS format to DVD format . Anyone?

I don't know about company's, but the best way to go is to a DVD Recorder (I recommend this one:  http://www.amazon.com/...

but you can also get in stores like Bestbuy, etc -- www.circuitcity.com has sold a model similar to that for as low as 110.00  Whatever you do, don't get the Sony recorder, it sucks).

A company will charge you a service fee that's a bit overpriced.  You can get dvd recordable media at places like bestbuy for as low as 25.00 for 100 of them.  However, I recommend Taiyo Yuden media DVD + R if your vhs films are that precious to your family.

There are 5 VHS tapes - all very precious and valuable to the family and local history. Each are about 10 minutes.  I want them done locally, and I might ask the curator of the local history museum for someone who can do the conversation. I could buy a VHS-DVD converter, but hardly want to do that when it's only 5 tapes, and will not ever be more than that, plus the expense for this conversation is being paid by someone else.

Yes, although I don't have any experience in VHS to DVD transfers, I have purchased many cameras and print services at Ritz Camera.  This is a service that they specialize in.

Hi, I hope I'm not too late but I just found your post. I work for YesVideo and we're actually the company that Ritz and Wolf send their video transfer orders to for processing.

Check out the description here: http://www.yelp.com/bi...

Maybe you'd try it for one of your videos and if you like it then submit the rest?

If you visit www.ritzdvd.com you can print a coupon to get a free 2nd DVD copy for each of your transfers.

Good luck!
