I love to eat, shop for clothes / accessories & art supplies / scrapbooking. Also, any great places as far as lounging and day time activities?

yardhouse is usually pretty happening...that whole area has developed quite a bit....you can go bar hopping around yardhouse area....
south coast plaza is my favorite indoor mall...but it's in the oc (costa mesa)...for all your gucci bags to chanel make-up....
you have melrose for that haight/ashbury kinda vibe shopping...or rodeo drive for outdoor high class shopping....beverly center mall sucks...
the grove is pretty cool..outdoor mall...movie theatre...standard chain restaurants....good place to hang on a nice day....it's like the santana row without the gucci and prada....

gg..it's long beach..so..it's either yardhouse area (which pretty much includes the queen mary)...or she can go LBC and get some fried catfish....LA or OC is all within 1 hour (30 minutes without traffic)...so just giving suggestions for places around LB....no need to get all worked up about it...

Who said I was worked up about it???
I figure if someone asks me advice about San Francisco, I'm not going to send her to San Jose . . . that's all.

There's a part of town in Long Beach called Belmont Shores. It's a cozy part of the city with the best shops I've seen there. I live in Santa Monica and I went there on Mother's Day weekend to shop with five girlfriends. We shopped for 6 hours and couldn't believe how the time flew by! I came home with new shoes, earrings, a hat, a necklace and 3 tops...and I have to really love something to buy it...cause I'm on a budget. We ate at a tapas place that has a black door...though...I can't remember the name of it at the moment. You'll find it if you wander down the street there. It was a really fun day!

Two areas in town to check out: 2nd St. in Belmont Shore will take care of all of your shopping and lounging needs. You can also check out Pine Ave. and Shoreline Village. No need to leave Long Beach, sheesh, too much traffic to go to LA or OC, we have plenty of stuff here in the LBC to keep you happy! Roscoe's is way overrated IMO; if you're looking for good places to eat there's a lot of reviews on Yelp, so it depends on what you're looking for. My #1 recommendation is La Parolaccia Osteria on Broadway, but if you have some certain kind of food you're looking for, let me know. Again, for the kind of thing it sounds like you're looking for, I think 2nd St. is your bet. There's also a section of 4th St. in the "art district" that has lots of funky boutiques and stuff. Oh, and the tapas place Amy H. mentioned is called Biggs, I just got back from there moments ago!
