This one is for all the ladies out there on yelp.
I'm looking for a new skincare routine. I currently use Kiehl's which I feel does a pretty good job, but as I'm getting older I'm realizing my skin isn't what it used to be and am thinking of upgrading to some of the other creams I've seen out there.
Anyone use expensive creams and if so what do you use and what's your opinion on it?
I'm specifically looking at Philosophy's hope in a jar because I've seen it on a lot of top lists (Sephora's, etc.) but I'm wondering is it really worth the hype?

For some reason I always have the impression that Philosophy is more about packaging than substance. However, looking at the Amazon reviews, it seems like it has had very good results for people. You might as well try it once, since you'll never know how it works for you personally otherwise. Shit, I am curious to try it now. It looks like the only problem you might have is if you are prone to acne, it may exacerbate it.,
I am on the fence about expensive beauty products, but I think this is largely due to the fact that I could go completely overboard, spending-wise, if I allowed myself to linger too long near the face creams...

Check out Darphin, its sold at nieman marcus. You should try samples first before you buy. The face creme runs 80-150 dependign on what you buy.

I would recommend SkinCeuticals. It's a very results oriented line and they usually carry it at plastic surgeons or dermatologists offices. The only two spas that I know of that carry it in the city is Spa Radiance and Equinox gym. Prices are moderate to expensive but last a long time. Ask for samples if they have it.

I think you should get samples to try out different products. Skincare is a personal thing and one product may work for some folks but not others. I find that it's good to not use one product for too long. For example, when I first used Prescriptives' "Super Line Preventor," I found it to be amazing. However, the effects started disappearing in the the thrid month.

If you get a chance, stop by Pure Beauty. They always have tons of little kits that have trial size stuff. Sometimes on sale and they give samples.
I like Dr. Brandt .

Contrary to what the cosmetics and beauty industries want you to believe, you don't need to spend a lot of money to get good skin care products. You just have to do your homework.
Go to Rainbow Grocery (or a similar store) and check out the Earth Science line. They have great cleansers and moisturizers, all made here in CA, not tested on animals. I've been using them for years and love them. I have some friends who've been using more expensive products; I recently turned them on to Earth Science, and they are very, very happy with the results.
(And no, I don't work for Earth Science.)

Try the Zia Products....they're all natural and I swear my skin has never been better than when I started using them because they are so pure...really good quality, too. In California you can find them at Whole Foods, sometimes, longs, or specialty beauty stores that carry any natural beauty lines.

Jeff is right. There is this local cream that is kick-ass from santa barbara I believe and the name is Apricot (made by earth science). the color is orange and white (label) and you can find it in real foods (which has 10% body stuff every wednesday) and whole foods, some other small retailers have it too, like valencia whole foods and rainbow.
It isn't that pricey but if you are looking for moist. the night cream is great. I use it for post-make up remove, often leaves my skin quite dry and this cream comes to the rescue. Great stuff and scent-free.

OOh, another piece of information that might be important.
I work at night (12 hour shifts) so my makeup is on for quite sometime and I sleep strange hours.
