whenever i watch "ace of cakes" on the food network, i always wonder if the cakes are any good.  sure they look awesome but what about the taste?  i  thought i'd find some yelps on the place but nada.  has anyone here ever tasted these marvelous looking creations?!

I've tasted two of his cakes...one was a simple chocolate cake, very nice and moist. Duff must have used a darker chocolate, because the flavor seemed a lot deeper than most. The other cake I tried was pumpkin with chocolate chips and cream cheese icing...pretty darned tasty. I don't know if I'd actually pay to have him make me my own cake, but it was a pleasure getting to taste these two in passing :)

I agree with JO'G on the chcolate chip pumpkin. Yummy. I've also had his green tea cake, which I didn't like, but then I'm not a green tea fan.

Yes, his cakes are good. I actually just met him yesterday at a culinary benefit in Baltimore. I am kicking myself for not trying the pumpkin cake w/ choc. chips. I did have the mint chocolate and choc. raspberry which were very moist and delicious.  He's awesome!
