The $2 pints (mostly Real Ale and Live Oak) at the Tap Room on Tuesdays are not too shabby. Free pool, too.

I'm north, so Garcia's in Round Rock - with it's 1.75 domestics and $3 nachos - is a good bet. El Arroyo is also a great spot for happy hour, although I don't get there as much as I wish.

THis is hard! But, I love Doc's on Thursdays--$5 pitchers of Texas Beer and $3 wings. The Jackelope also has buy one get one free burgers on Wednesdays and $2 pints.
Wow. I feel like an alchy.

Trudys on Tuesdays. Dollar off the famous mexican martinis, and specials on top shelf stuff as well. Now I'm craving Trudys. Might have to go there Tuesday :)

OK, I've got it narrowed down to three, one for each budget level:
CHEAP: Chuy's. Dirt cheap margaritas and free nacho bar.
MID-RANGE: Clay Pit - 1/2 price appetizers, all delish. And that drink with the three rums - yum.
HIGH-END: Eddie V's. Again with the 1/2 price appetizers. My hubby and I, who are HUGE eaters, shared a bunch of apps the other day for dinner and came away only having spent $20. Gotta love that.

I went to Eddie V's with a couple of friends a few weeks ago for their superb happy hour. You really can't go wrong. I got the crab chowder and crab cake. Both are to awesome. Drinks I'm not so sure about.

We should really have a yelp outing to taste test these fabulous happy hours and meet the faces behind the comments. Hmm...interesting....

Isadora, I loved your post about Doc's! Well, if you want to drink and use the internet (haha, drunk Yelping!), Clementine has $2 pints on tap on Tuesdays. Also, Kenichi has a sushi happy hour but I don't know what time...

monday nights at el arroyo off of far west...dollar tecate's in the can and buy one get one free burgers and fries (and yes, their burgers and fries are great!)...also, el arroyo on thursdays has 99 cent margarita's (fozen or rocks) from 2-6, then after 6 they go up a bit in price...usually don't care or remember by that point! haha!

So I've gotten some ideas from this thread, but I'm specifically looking for a Monday Happy Hour that is awesome. Its for a work function and there will be about 10 of us. Any suggestions? I've never been to a Happy Hour in Austin, or anywhere else actually, so I have no clue about this stuff.

Cheyne "You can call me... JAZZ HANDS..." M. says:
Actually, they aren't 1/2 price.... its two for one cuban sandwiches so $7.95 for two huge sandwiches... and they have $1.50 tecates as well as $3 margaritas an martinis...
I am about to head out on the town to try out some of these happy hours right now... anyone going out today?

First post in this talk thread: Nov 14, 2006. I wonder if there are other "topics that will never die".

Erika "sweep the leg" G. says:
...along with that, I wonder if Susie's happy hour really DID beat up all the other happy hours? Guess we'll never know.

Topic resurrected, for sheez
Has anyone been to the San Jose Hotel or Elephant Room for happy hour? I've read the reviews but I'm not sure if San Jose is more of a weekend place and if Elephant Room is too loud?

Danny "The Man" V. says:
Depends on the day but there are great ones at Saba, El Arroyo, Ninety Proof, Belmont, and Malaga.

Jaye "Boobs O'Leary" J. says:
Jon, I go to San Jose all the time. It's fantastic. There is no hard liquor though, just beer and wine (and michelada's!). I don't think they have any specials or anything either. They don't need them...

Gretchen "Condom Fairy" H. says:
Looking for a happy hour kinda centrally located. Any new additions to this list?
(and it's resurrected yet again)

Jon "somebody get that kid off the escalator" S. says:
You can't beat Lala's (north centralish) for a dingy, divey, depressing old time!
I'll have to also say I really like Key Bar, and J Blacks (however I found if you stay there too late then a certain type of crowd shows up demanding sharks in the floor. But happy hour is great.)
