Does anyone know where I can cheap prepared food (preferably middle eastern or asian or even decent pizza) in the Allston/Brighton/Brookline area.
The best i've found thus far is places like Shawarma King which still cost around 6 bucks. By cheap I mean 2.50 for something singular or 4 or 5 bucks top for what would be considered a meal.
I'm use to New York where the cigarettes and drinks are priced high but you can find good pizza, falafel, roti rolls, maybe 2 hot dogs and a papaya deal or gigantic breakfast sandwiches dirt cheap day and night. Here its apparently the opposite, low cigarette and booze prices, but you get crap pizza and jacked up ethnic food.
Is there anyway out of this loop?

Well basically the food around Allston/Brighton is just sub-par in general. But if you want the best deal around you need to goto cafe belo on Brighton ave. They charge by the pound...can't beat it!

In Brookline, Rod Dee Thai ($3-7) and Anna's Taqueria ($3-6) in Brookline are pretty cheap for meals. Also, there's the Brookline Family Restaurant which serves yummy $2.50-$3.50 bowls of mac 'n' cheese alongside complimentary bread basket and white bean salad! Now that's a dirt cheap meal :)

Basically the food seems to be pretty over-priced all over Boston... and not as good as NYC either.
In JP there is cheap Salvadorian food, but that is all I have found that compares price/taste wise.
