Links Fore Leukemia 2008
The course has been manicured and the golf clubs are ready to go for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's 4th Annual Links Fore Leukemia Golf Tournament. The tournament will take place at the prestigious Grayhawk Golf Club at 8620 East Thompson Peak Parkway, in Scottsdale, Arizona on June 9th. Registration and check-in begins at 11:00 a.m. with tee time at 1:00 p.m. The event will conclude with a catered reception on the Grayhawk grounds, with a live and silent auction. All proceeds benefit LLS' programs of patient services, public education, financial aid and research.

Why We Are Here

"My experience with leukemia was harsh and required a bone marrow transplant and a stem cell transplant as did Jim Willis, my friend and co-founder of the LFL. We didn't want others to suffer the extreme treatments as we had," said Barker.

The original "Links Fore Leukemia" Golf Tournament started in 1997 in Dallas, Texas. It was created by Bob Barker and Jim Willis. At the age of 37, Willis lost his personal battle against leukemia just months after the inaugural tournament. Barker's goal was then to see the tournament continued in Texas, with satellite events elsewhere. In the ensuing eleven years the tournament has raised over $2 million, and has expanded to include both Phoenix and Orlando, Florida.

It is estimated that more than 830,000 Americans are living with blood cancer. LLS is doing their part to give them hope, by investing more than $1/2 billion in research, contributing to advances such as chemotherapy, bone marrow and stem cell transplantation and new targeted therapies.
