@ Aaron- True, they normally play Shoreline Amp.....HP is really cool for concerts compared to Oakland Oracle Arena (way too big)!!!

We went to their only Bay area show last Oct 2007 for the Download festival, then they canceled the rest of the tour to focus on this 2008 new album!

CLASSICS were played throughout the night!
Hey, "Pictures of You" is used on the HP printers commercials! HP Pavilion?! Just a coincidence?

Yes- I'm a big fan!!! I'll decide later for which I'll keep for myself. I really don't like the floor area unless you're in the VERY front. I prefer the view from lower level. You can inhale the second hand weed smoke from the old folks!!!!

Kenny, the last time the Cure played at or over the 3 hour mark was Mountain View 2000 during the Bloodflowers "Dream Tour".  They clocked in around 2 hrs 45 mins at the Download Festival at the same venue in 2007, but in 2004 during Curiosa Festival at SBC Park it was about the 2 hour mark.

Europe is getting 3 hours, but they planned it so 65 Days of Static finishes at a starting point, allowing the band to do near or at 3 hours prior to their curfews. If you look at the US tour dates, based on the start times and assuming an 11 pm timeframe curfew, we're likely getting the short end of the stick. Even more so if their new supposed double album comes out after the European tour, which is likely. So we may get more new songs, same pop set, and fewer chances of the dark stuff. But let's keep our hopes up.

If we are lucky, and assuming Robert is aware of what was played at the Download Festival, we *should* get the main set that starts with Plainsong and ending with Disintegration. Best guess is 2 hours 50 mins, hopefully a tad bit over three (depending on how generous The Cure feel on paying overtime for breaking curfews). Three songs from the upcoming new album, and of course all the greatest hits and singles (which I'd rather they play more depressing songs).

The Paris show was probably the best stop of the European Tour, longest and top quality performance clocking over 3 hours. They say it was filmed for a potential future DVD release. Rotterdam I would say came a close second, and that final encore of Faith/A Forest was just too excellent for words.

A heads up though, Robert Smith got a nasty cold and sore throat thingy during the Canadian shows, and reports said his voice was shot at the Kansas City show, and he's not feeling as good either for tonight's Red Rocks stop. Let's hope it gets better by the SJ show.

The interesting part is that Kansas City got new songs to open and close the main set, probably from the new album. Hopefully we'll get that or Plainsong/Disintegration, but we will have to see.

And remember this current lineup of four man Cure has no keyboards, just backing synth tracks. So what you saw in 2004 is not going to be the same as 2007/2008. (But yes 2004 SBC Park Curiosa was pretty cool, I was there too).

I first saw them in 1990! I have a photo of me with some Goth/Mod chicks! Pre-EMO generation of today.
I think I wore some patent leather jacket, shin high Doc Martins, and all BLACK of course......

Years forward....I wonder how many people will be wearing khakis and polos shirts, starched & ironed of course....

In 1990 they did a bunch of festivals and Roger O' Donnell had left the band (replaced by Perry Bamonte) which became the Wish tour lineup.

There were some drunk stoners above right to us head bangin'.....WTF?! To the Cure....!
Behind us sat: a Dad (who rocked!), his 17 yr old son, and 24 yr old daughter....if I ever have a kid,
I'd like them to rock with me at a concert too!!! ;-)

Great music + Great company = a GREAT time out!!!!

PS Concert tees weren't worth $40! I'll get mine at Rasputin Records...hahaha!

My Husbands Favorite Band. and for me a close second  ....Never miss a near by show ( Any where in the state) But Seeing a Band that you have been seeing for the last 20 years is always a bit scary..( as you can reflect on the crowd members about how old you have become) BUt this never happens with THe CURE. Yes the crowd can scare you in to plastic surgry. but one the band starts you find your self shaking your butt  like you did as a Kid  to the coolest band ever. enjoying every minute, spuring  you into weeks of driving around listening to only The Cure for the next several weeks. A band that holds up for 30 years is a truely rare thing so never miss another concert if you can help it.!!  They are timeless, and I hope they are recognized for this by more that just Cure fans.
