I'm a very tentative (25%) maybe. You *TOTALLY* have to get here early for a decent spot.. and even then it gets *super* crowded... Picnickers: Make sure your food can sit out (or in a cooler) for many hours!
(Last time we staked out a spot at 9AM and even then, it was getting crowded.)

I went to the Stern Grove one- it  was one of the best outdoor concerts I've been- great day for it too :-)

Yes!  
It's relaxing and fun.  It's a great place to introduce children to opera.  They can run around, play on the playground and still here the music in the background.  My mom use to take me when I was a teenager, and I try to go every year since.  

TIP:  1)Get there early to get a spot.  Bring a book or an extra bottle of wine to entertain yourself, or send a friend out early to claim a spot for your group.  
2) Pack a heavy sweater, a hat, and sun block.  The sun comes and goes, you'll be glad to have them on hand.
