You may have heard of pupusas, and some of you may have even tried this traditional Salvadorian treat. Regardless of whether you've had a pupusa before, you should join us for this SF Pupusa UYE.
I propose meeting up to have some of the tastiest and most beautifully presented pupusas in San Francisco.
This is not my mother's Salvadorian restaurant. Do not come here expecting something you would see in San Salvador or even from many other Salvy places around the corner. Panchita's #3 is a modern Salvadorian restaurant without the hike in price that you can come to expect when traditional foods are "modernized".
I defy you to find a more beautiful pupusa than the one served up at Panchita's #3. To make it even better, pupusas are super cheap ($1.75 each). You can have good Salvadorian food without going broke.
The pupusas have a beautiful presentation and they offer all kinds (chicken, pork, fish etc) to cater to SF's healthy folk.
Public transportation info: Panchita's is about a 5 minute walk from the Mission and 24th Street BART. Panchita's is on 22nd between Mission and Van Ness. If you are taking MUNI, you can take the 14 or 49 and get off near 22nd.
i love thier spinach and cheese pupusa, and by far the best part of the pupusa is the cheese the spills out while it's cooking and gets all crunchy and burnt!
Now are these things crunchy or soft because I had some that had a nice crunchy outside and I love that now more so than the old and limp ones I used to have...No offense to my friend's mom...
If by combo you mean that they'll give you a plate piled high with 2-3 different types of pupusas, then yes they have combo pupusas. Here's the types they have. They are so damn good!!!
Pupusas: de Camarones (shrimp) de Pollo (chicken) de Pescado (fish) de Chicharron (pork) de Frijoles (beans) de Queso (cheese) de Chiles rojos (red pepper) de Vegetarianos (veggie)
Ok folks - I popped in tonight for dinner (awesome as usual) and told the owner we'd be stopping by on Tuesday.
I told them there would be 10-15 of us, so if you are in the "sounds cool" category please let me know by sunday if you're going to come. There's a big difference between serving the 12 that are in right now to serving 12+46 if people decide to show up last minute.
I am a regular at this place so if we're going to slam them on a random tuesday night I'd like to give them a head's up.
Flor: I'll carpool w/ you. I'm up-to-date on my shots, so I'm not afraid of you biting me! ;-) We can PM each other for details as to where & when to meet.
Hey, in case y'all didn't know, the following was pointed out to me... http://www.urbandictio... So be careful with what you say, it may be taken the wrong way! ;-)
whoa. . I never knew that pupusa was slang for, um, well. . .whoa.
I know this is a pupusa eating fest but if they have the chilaquiles. .get them. . get them. . get them . . .they are SO good.
Is it wrong that when I go there I ask them not to cut the pupusas? I don't like when the fillings ooze out. :( They still make them pretty but I can see the cooks frowning. :)
Yeah, I think I owe someone a couple of bucks...I was a few short (about $2, I think) unless I got change for my $20, but you guys had already settled the bill before I could even get up. Would that be you, Carlos? Flor paid for the one we shared, so I know I owe her about 1.50.
