What is BYOBW? It's an 8-year tradition in SF where grown men and women of all ages careen, scream, cry, laugh, skid, slide, drift, tailspin, bump, and fall down a windy downhill in SF on a big wheel. You know those big wheels. All plastic, loud as the dickens. You can't cheat with any rubber tires, only the cheap plastic tires qualify. You do this event at your own risk but I have to tell you it's freaking hilarious to either participate or spectate.
Just imagine people colliding with each other, with curbs, with spectators. You'll soil yourself from laughing. You crazy SBCers this event is calling your name. You're doing it with me next year. Go to Goodwill a few weeks before to buy your big wheel of choice for $5-$10
LOL this sounds like so much fun, its raining right now so maybe Ill head up there later and get some practice runs in.... That way by the time April rolls around I know the course cold...
@Chris, you can practice all you want but it won't compare to having dozens of people around you skidding around. Think of like swimming in the ocean in your first tri after swimming 100s of pool laps alone.
How amazingly awesome would this be??? Shame it's on Easter because I'll be in Vegas. I guess that's a good enough consolation prize...next year for sure!
Bad news. From the site's website: SF POLICE HAVE PROMISED TO SHOW UP AND TICKET EVERYONE RIDING OR RACING this means cops and tickets and turf wars and likely some sad gravity-harnessing adrenaline-craving public-performance-art-loving folks! so who knows what the tickets are actually for (riding a toy?) (misuse of gravity?) (unlawful stupidity?) (public art?) or how much the tickets will cost??
I like how right after they warn you not to come, they post the time and address in bright green letters. DON'T DO IT! stay home and obey the law you heathens!!!

When my MOM laughs at a police threat, I just can't take it seriously.
Dammit, after watching fast and furious, I was itching to compete in this race... I even modified the axles and made a body kit and spoiler for downforce. (It added 40 lbs, but it still looks awesome...) I wonder if the ticket will be a moving violation...
I'm there for spectating purposes, nothing can keep me away from this!!! Unless my girl bails on me again :( crossing my fingers!! Maybe I'll fly solo even...
