****BUY PRESALE TIX NOW FOR $20! Email pigeatfest@gmail.com for details on how! Tickets will be $30 starting monday, july 6th
Saturday, July 11th a group of friends who met through Yelp are throwing a BBQ at Lake Merced to benefit the SF Food Bank.
As everyone knows, we love to eat! Or, maybe we should say, "we live to eat." In the past, this event has just been a group of friends getting together, enjoying food while raising money for the Food Bank. This is the first year that we are opening the event to anyone who'd like to come in hopes of BRINGING HOME THE BACON for the Food Bank.
In addition to the normal homemade goodies, Clark Summit Farm in Tomales, CA has provided one of their heritage breed, livin'-the-good-life, and seriously tasty pigs for the festivities!
****WE ALSO NEED VOLUNTEERS TO WORK THE DAY OF THE EVENT AND TO BRING DISHES TO SHARE - IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN HELPING PLEASE EMAIL pigeatfest@gmail.com****
A lot of awesome people have donated PRIZES for this event:
-TWO $50 Gift Certificates for UPS store donated by Jason Angeles http://www.yelp.com/bi...
-a YEAR'S SUBSCRIPTION to Fray: A Quarterly of True Stories donated by Derek Powzak http://www.fray.com
-AND MUCH MORE!!!
The SF Food Bank services 600+ community programs. They feed seniors and families and donate goods to shelters to help those who have fallen on hard times. Remember, for every $1 donated to the SF Food Bank, $9 of food is distributed!
Tickets are $20 in advance and $30 cash the day of. For information on how to purchase tickets, visit the Facebook Event Page, the Yelp Event Page, or email pigeatfest@gmail.com.
as we are trying to make these things a bit bigger and more *cough* legitimate, it will be family friendly, meaning no nudity, and if you havent noticed i didnt even swear one single time in the description! i was telling the guys at out planning meeting that i wanted to write up the events page...... I WONT EVEN USE PROFANITY.... we are gonna be all legit and stuff.
By the way, with Vital Life Services closing it's doors after 23 years - I'd like to stress the importance of being charitable right now. Government funding is nearly a thing of the past.
and in the spirit of this event..... homeless man works hard shining shoes to get himself off the streets....governmental bs almost wipes him out.... the people read about this and act... they call the people invovled, they support him, they donate.... hes now on track to better himself.
as he states
"I want to be on this corner," he said. "But you know what? You need me on this corner. You got people in this city getting a free room and free medical but they aren't doing nothing with their lives. I want people to see me and say, 'There's a guy working hard.' "
Monday, July 6th is the last day to buy your tickets at $20. From Tuesday until Saturday (PIGEATFEST DAY!!!) Tickets will be $30 each. So hurry, if you haven't already purchased yours.
