Party with the undead at the biggest Halloween bash in San Diego, the 9th Annual Dos Equis XX Monster Bash presented by Malibu Rum! The madness begins on Halloween, Saturday, October 31st, 2009 from 6:00 PM to Midnight on the outskirts of the Gaslamp at 7th Avenue between Market and J Street and on Island Avenue between 6th and 8th Avenues. This evening is not for the faint of hearts with its killer live bands electrifying mixes from the hottest DJs and frightingly beautiful go-go girls. Monster Bash once again presents its world famous Costume Contest giving all creative minds the chance to Win a Grand Prize of $3,000 CASH!!! The debauchery doesn't end there; your Monster Bash wristband is also your ticket to food and drink specials as well as, free entrance into the Gaslamp and East Village's devilish nightclubs and hotspots. New to the bash this year, the VIP Lounge will provide a dark escape with its swanky couches, toxic drinks and private restrooms for a scream of a deal at just $45 per ticket.
Don't drink and drive at this year's Monster Bash 2009! Take a FREE designated driver shuttle home to anywhere in the San Diego County from 9:00 PM to 1:00 AM located at 7th and Market Street at the main entrance to Monster Bash.
I attended this event and it ended up being the biggest scam. The entertainment was mediocre, the drinks insanely expensive and all the specials and free covers to get into local participating bars was not honored. They promised a designated driver shuttle to those that attended and we ended up getting stranded downtown til 4 in the morning because they didn't honor that either. I'm not sure what my 25 dollars paid for and will never attend one again or encourage my friends or anyone I know to either.
Monster Bash is definitely one of the best block parties I have ever been to besides Mardi Gras in the Gaslamp! I have to say THANK GOD I upgraded to Club VIP because the lines for the bathroom outside of the VIP zone were ridiculous. All the free shots and covers provided through the VIP package definitely made the $40 upgrade worth it.
As far as entertainment goes, I thought all the dancers were hot and I was extremely surprised to see so many amazing costumes! Bar hopping with my friends (taking tons of free shots) was insanely fun.
My biggest complaint is that the lines for drinks were a little long and there could've been a few more bars, but it was still A LOT better than the lines outside of VIP.
I would truly recommend this event every year and definitely would encourage my friends to UPGRADE to VIP! I'll be back next year if I stay in SD!
